TLDR: Goodfolks is a must-visit for Southern-inspired dining. The atmosphere is cozy yet stylish, service is top-notch thanks to Kim and Jeremiah, and the food is unforgettable. The chicken fried steak is a tender, crispy masterpiece, and the buttery mashed potatoes are pure heaven. From start to finish, every detail is thoughtfully executed for an exceptional dining experience. Don't miss it!
Goodfolks is a culinary gem that takes Southern-inspired dining to bold new heights. From the moment you step inside, the inviting atmosphere, stellar service, and crave-worthy food make it clear you're in for something special.
Service at Goodfolks is nothing short of spectacular. Our server, Kim, was an absolute delight! She made us feel so at home that we half expected to see our names embroidered on the napkins. We were even visited by the manager, Jeremiah, who ensured that our visit would be nothing less than stellar. The ambiance? Think rustic charm meets modern flair. With soft lighting, thoughtful decor, and seating that's as comfortable as it is chic, Goodfolks manages to be both cozy and Instagram-worthy. Whether you're grabbing lunch with friends or celebrating something special, this place sets the perfect stage.
Now, let's talk about the food — starting with the chicken fried steak. Forget those limp, over-breaded pretenders you've encountered before. Goodfolks' version is the real deal: juicy, tender steak wrapped in a crispy, golden crust that sings with flavor. It's so good, it might just ruin you for all other chicken fried steaks. And the mashed potatoes? Absolute heaven. These are not your box-mix variety. They're made from honest-to-goodness real potatoes, whipped into buttery, creamy perfection, and crowned with a melting pat of butter that's basically a mic drop for your taste buds. Pair them with the steak, and you've got a duo that deserves its own fan club. It's so clear the kitchen staff and the manager take such pride in every plate they send out that I cannot begin to fathom how anyone could criticize this excellent combination of service and product.
Goodfolks isn't just a meal — it's an experience. From the first sip of a cocktail to the last bite of dessert, every detail has been thought through to leave you grinning like you've won the comfort food lottery...and I'm pretty damn sure I did. It's rare to find a place where food, service, and atmosphere all shine (and I've been scouring Georgetown to find a place which does), but Goodfolks pulls it off with style.
If you find yourself in Georgetown, do yourself a favor and make Goodfolks your next stop. You're in for an unforgettable ride. Good folks, great food, and memories to savor — what more could...
Read moreI just have to share my experience at Good Folks restaurant in Georgetown, TX. This was my second trip there. My first was quite pleasant because of the attentive, respectful staff and the delicious food. However, my visit there Monday night blew the doors off!!! To start off, the hostess Sydney was amazing and delightful. You could see her smile shining through her mask even though they were extremely busy because it was Valentine’s Day. She started our evening off with a joyful spirit that put smiles on our faces. She even managed to get us a table (we did not have reservations) in about half the time expected. Once we were at our table, Trent took over. Let me just say, if you go there (no, when you go there), ask for Trent. He will take excellent care of you and keep you laughing and happy. You need to make it soon though because he is about to graduate, and, who knows what happens after that! 😊 Trent answered all our questions politely and was very charismatic. He described the special menu items and made suggestions. Just let me say, listen to his suggestions! We got the lobster ravioli and there is no way to describe the delicious, flavorful burst on our taste buds…. Well, maybe, it was better than what men want the most. 😉 I don’t like cooked spinach so we asked Trent if there was any way to not have that in the dish. When he brought our plates, there was no spinach! And it was fabulous, melt in your mouth richness! If you want a drink that will take you on a roller coaster ride with explosions of flavor, order their original concoction the Peach Smash. Oh, my gosh! Just when you think one flavor has burst on the scene, suddenly there is an explosion of another flavor. As you are climbing the hill on that one, the bottom falls out and WHOOSH! Another burst of flavor! Definitely, the most exciting drink I have ever had. Justin’s culinary skills are definitely out of the solar system! I can’t decide which was my favorite, the decadently rich chocolate torte or the smooth, sultry blueberry pudding. As a matter of fact, I can’t pick a favorite of the night! Bobby, the manager, came by to check on our meal and he fits right in with Georgetown. Personable, friendly, caring, motivated to make Good Folks an icon of Georgetown. And, I am sure he will! This restaurant is the new heart of Georgetown. Everyone and everything depict what the residents of Georgetown love about Georgetown. Do yourself a favor – Go to Good Folks! You will be so glad you did! My hat is off to Sydney, Trent, Justin and Bobby for making my night so delightfully memorable and delicious. Keep up...
Read moreWhen it first opened I was a big fan. Good drinks, great happy hour, burgers, their Chicken fried steak was a favorite for many..... really a nice little menu. I have a feeling they have had a change of management and all decided to bring him in from KFC or something. - changed everything that made it great. The ONLY protein served now is chicken. It is now really just a chicken restaurant. Akin to something like a mix of Lucy's Chicken meets Z'tejas and had a confused baby. I ordered the 4 piece chicken plate (even the name sounds like you are ordering at KFC). Interestingly when you go to a chicken place, most will have a cheaper menu item if you order all dark meat. Here, I asked if I could have all dark and they said "sure for an upcharge".... err ok. So now, the restaurant with a great bar, white linens, and a decent menu at the Georgetown town square has changed into a... well... a restaurant that looks the part for the square, but just serves chicken - chicken salad, chicken sandwiches, chicken with rice, chicken etouffee. Menu reads like Bubba Buford Blue from Forrest Gump wrote the menu. Except this time with chicken, not shrimp. Service: Sofia our server was GREAT. The rest of the staff was, ....well, like the staff at a chicken restaurant. I remember going there once around 7:00 pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. They literally could not seat me that night (not a complaint - the place was that good.) This time, we waltzed right in and the downstairs was half empty and the upstairs was completely empty. Its as if the new management said, "Let's buy the cheapest ingredients...err chicken, lets get rid of our most popular menu items, keep the price the same and see how long it takes us to get rid of our clients. I actually asked as to why they got rid of the rest of their menu and the answer was, and I am not making this up, a very rehearsed " We just didn't have enough room in the kitchen to serve beef". Well, I suppose it makes sense. With all the chicken stacked up to rafters, they had to get rid of the beef. Too bad really... I am going to miss what...
