This week I went for an MRI of my knee. In January I injured me knee and I am still on crutches and wearing a knee brace. My appointment was this week and when I arrived, check-in was no problem. When I was called, I noticed there was one other (older male) patient ahead of me in the designated waiting area for an MRI. At that moment, I knew I was called in way too early by the tech assistant. The tech assistant gave me a set of XXL shorts and gown and told me I had to remove all of my clothes & knee brace except for my socks and underwear, put on the garments she gave me, and instructed me to sit in the waiting area (where the male patient was waiting) once I was changed. First of all, I’m 5’7” and 120lbs and the garments the tech assistant gave me were ridiculously large. I could deal with the shorts mostly bc the elastic was sewn small. But the gown she gave me was way too large and I was afraid my breasts would be exposed especially since I’m on crutches. So, I kept my 100% cotton tank top on under the garment she gave me thinking it was no big deal. She came up to me and told me I had to remove my tank top otherwise it could catch fire during the imaging process. I told her this gown is too big and I can’t tie the ties and this will come flying open and I even asked her if they have a smaller size. Not in the entire facility did she have a smaller size gown to offer me. However, she offered a large blanket so I could cover my back. She expected me to not only manage my large gown from flying open but she also wanted me to put a large blanket on my back while on crutches - this was absolutely unsafe and I was deeply uncomfortable at the thought of exposing myself to the people in the waiting area. Once I made it to the imaging room, she (the tech assistant) immediately grabbed my crutches and set them aside before I even made it to the MRI table. I asked her how I was supposed to make it to the table and she replied, oh, just grab onto me. By this time I was so upset and felt unsteady and frazzled by being put in this entire situation. The worst part was that I definitely could have worn my tank top since they only put my lower extremities in the tube! Thankfully the actual MRI Tech was very kind and after the exam he gave me my crutches to exit the room. Meanwhile the assistant was telling me to “hop on” so she could walk me back to the door without my crutches (she didn’t realize the MRI Tech handed me my crutches). This is worst exam experience I’ve ever had. That tech assistant has the worst bedside manner and she was more interested in micromanaging what I could and couldn’t do than insuring my safety and comfort. She’s the absolute worst. I gave two stars bc the MRI Tech who took the images was very kind and...
Read moreI recently visited your facility for an ultrasound appointment, and while some aspects of the experience were positive, overall, I was left frustrated and disappointed. I wanted to share my detailed experience to provide feedback and help improve processes for future patients.
Check-In Process and Initial Payment
Upon arrival, I was charged a $40 copay without the staff verifying my insurance benefits. After the ultrasound, I contacted my insurance, and they confirmed I had a $0 copay for this visit. When I returned to address the issue, I encountered a lack of support from some staff members before the manager eventually voided the charge. This could have been avoided with a simple insurance check, which took less than a minute.
Ultrasound Procedure Miscommunication
My original order was for both an abdomen and pelvis ultrasound, but only the abdomen was performed. When I asked the ultrasound technician about the lower abdomen (where I was experiencing sharp pain), she informed me that a pelvis ultrasound requires drinking water beforehand.
I requested to complete the pelvis ultrasound the same day, as I was already fasting and prepared to wait, and I can drink water and wait for 1hr but it wasn’t accommodated. Instead, I was rescheduled for a later appointment.
Rescheduling and Insurance Confusion
The manager rescheduled my pelvis ultrasound at a hospital location which i didn't know its a hospital i knew i went banner imaging at power Rd for mamo gram, my husband told me insurance only covers imaging and lab work at outpatient facilities unless pre-approved. This caused additional inconvenience and required another call to my insurance to resolve the issue.
Positive Notes
I want to acknowledge the kindness and professionalism of the ultrasound technician and the check-in staff member who assisted me. They were both courteous and helpful.
Concerns and Suggestions
Charging patients without verifying insurance benefits is unacceptable. This could lead to unnecessary financial stress, and resolving refunds can take weeks or months.
Better communication about procedures (e.g., fasting or drinking water) is crucial to prevent wasted time and rescheduling.
Scheduling staff should ensure that appointments align with patients' insurance coverage to avoid out-of-network charges.
Overall Experience While I appreciate the kindness of some staff, the lack of organization, miscommunication, and unhelpful responses from others left me dissatisfied. I hope your team takes steps to ensure a smoother and more supportive experience for all patients in the future. Based on this visit, I can only give this location 2 stars: one for the ultrasound technician and one for the friendly check-in...
Read moreNever do imaging at this location!!! I do CT scans, bloodwork and x-rays several times a year through Banner imaging. I typically go to the location in Tempe on McClintock and always have a great experience. The CT Machine at the Tempe location was not available so I made my appointment at this Gilbert location thinking it will all be the same. It absolutely was not the same!
Front Desk staff was cold and short. But worse yet the “nurse” that was getting me ready for the tech was not only just short, rude and unprofessional, she was downright mean. She was ordering me around and seemed put off by her mistake in finding my vain in my arm. As I’ve said I do blood work and have been in and out of hospitals and specialists for years and never have a problem. That women should not be in the healthcare profession. Especially at a facility that is handling patients that are coming in willingly for imaging and for some could be a scary experience. I almost got off the table and left but as soon as she audibly sighed when I looked over and told her she was way off the mark she left the room. The main tech that did my scan was a bit more friendly but that entire place needs to work on their attitudes and bedside manner. There was zero compassion and zero connection. Can’t wait to return to the Tempe location on McClintock when their equipment is all up and...
