I purchased pajamas and needed to exchange them for they were ill fitting. I had to go through four cashiers. The first one was courteous and friendly yet after about 10 minutes took me to a second cashier which then took me to a third cashier who directed me to the lingerie section. I had one tag on it but the third cashier said I may need the "yellow tag" and directed me down stairs to a different dept. I headed to the lingerie department and found an exact match to bring up to the counter. The sales lady approached me and treated me bad since the get go. She brought me back to her counter and then proceeded to take a phone call, before questioning me as if she didn't understand what was going on. She really frankly made me feel as if I were an idiot, or worse trying to steal an item. I told her that she was my fourth cashier and she was very snooty and sarcastic as she said, "well yes you should know to return it to this department if this is where you purchased it" and shook her head as really annoyed and irritated. She said, "I'm sorry but I cannot return or exchange this for you".
First off I had the receipt in hand, she looked at it and said, "was the purchase done at our store". It was a Dillard's receipt, in her hand she had both sets of pajamas identical.
When I asked her to please get me a manager she still refused to exchange it, saying that the identical 1X versus the XL size that I held in my hand cost more because of the size difference.
More than 45 minutes later and waiting in line for four cashiers and the extra phone call, I was late to my movie I had reserved and paid for an hour prior to that.

Read moreIt's been 20 years since I shopped at Dillard's because their service when trying to return something is so horrible, but I took a chance and bought a $98 swimsuit this season. Within two months the elastic started to break down, I attempted to take it back and was treated rudely and was told immediately that I couldn't return the merchandise before even being asked why I was trying to return it or if I had a receipt. So I went to customer service desk and spoke to a manager who was also rude from the very start and told me "no" before finding out any other information. I had no receipt or tag, when she found that out service only got worse. She said I needed the tag or receipt to prove I purchased the item (insinuating that I may have stolen the item?). How does a tag prove that? I asked if she could look it up with the credit card I purchased it with (she didn't bother offering this service) They can only look up purchases within the past 30 days. Come on, data storage is cheap These days. They wouldn't even give me the clearance price for the merchandise. It is clear to me that Dillard's does not want their customers to return merchandise. Read moreEven though it's 2022, Dillard's employees are still acting uppity towards POC. We walked around aimlessly looking for the fragrance department and at least 10 employees totally ignored us but rushed help others who were the same color as them. They saw us, turned their noses up in the air while their eyes looked down on us like we were trash. We found the fragrance department, there was 7 older, stuffy women working and not one of them acknowledge me when I tried to get their attention, they just scurried off and pretended to be busy. Finally someone not only greeted us but asked if we needed help. Her name was Dalila C. and she was amazing!! She was patient, helped my son pick out a fragrance he loves and helped me find the gift I was looking for, for my mom. The whole time we were in the store, she is the ONLY employee who spoke to us, greeted us and helped us. I'll try to avoid giving Dillard's another penny of my money but if I happen to need some perfume or cologne in the future from an actual store, I will go back just because of the kindness Dalila showed us but I will only deal with her. If I'm spending hundreds of dollars in a store, it would be nice to at least be acknowledged. The store gets 1 star, Dalila deserves...
