If you hate the sound of metal dish pieces scraping against each other and chewing fatty pieces of meat this restaurant will be a sensory nightmare.
Sizzle is going for an upscale atmosphere, which is a nice addition to the arrowhead area. All plates, cups and utensils are metal, which is an attempt to complete the upscale vibe, but the metal chopsticks were so heavy they just felt impractical to hold. Plus I hated the sound of them touching any other of the metal dishware 😖 and it sent shivers down my spine constantly.
We got the beef combo. Most of the cuts of meat we got were SO fatty I had to spit out the meat in my napkin and it started to pile up on my plate. I don’t know if we were just unlucky with our cuts but it was an abnormal amount of fat that I’ve never experienced at KBBQ before. The server offered to cut off the pieces of fat, which I appreciate, but there was barely any actual meat after the pieces were cut up. After attempting to eat many pieces of meat and them just ending up chewy, I just didn’t even wanna eat anymore. I was still hungry when leaving.
The service is good. Our server was attentive to our needs and checked on us regularly. At this restaurant the server cooks the meat for you so it felt a little awkward with them there cookin the meat at the table. We prefer to cook our own meat at KBBQ, but having the server cook for you would be a nice option for someone new to Korean bbq or if the designated griller wants a break from doing all the work at kbbq.
I was disappointed in the beef combo and don’t believe it was worth the price we paid. The metal scratching drove me insane and I had to fill up on rice and salad to actually eat because the meat was so unenjoyable. Overall a disappointing experience for me personally… if I’m going to kbbq, I’m there to really EAT some MEAT and sadly this just couldn’t be achieved during...
Read moreLittle back-story before the actual review: Thanks to Uncle Sam, I had the distinct pleasure of living in South Korea for 2 years. While there, I did my best to integrate with and appreciate the culture as much as possible. One of the most memorable ways of doing this was getting a large group of friends on going to get Korean BBQ. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, everything about those nights made some of my most cherished memories in S. Korea.
In my experience, it's been tough to find a place that comes close to mimicking those nights that I loved so much. I can say, after going with my wife last night, Sizzle nailed it. The friendly service, the fun, loud, family-oriented atmosphere and, of course, the food, is the closest I've seen to the real thing in 10 years.
My wife and I ordered the small beef combo, which was more than enough for us. It came with 4 different types of beef, a stew (tasted like miso on steroids), two different salads and all the accouterments you could need. Everything was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and served quickly and with quality.
As a rebuttal to two of the most negatively reviewed aspects, yes, it is pricey. It's not meant to be a daily, or even weekly trip. You're paying for quality, atmosphere and, most of all, the experience. So, while on the expensive side, I believe the price can be justified. As for the chefs cooking the food for you, read the menu before you go and don't act surprised; the menu literally tells you they do. Also, you are able to request to do it yourself.
Bottom line: We loved it. We will be back, but it will be as a celebratory treat or for a special occasion. Would recommend a group of 4 as it's more cost-effective to do it this way. Thanks for the...
Read moreI have been to Sizzle twice now and each time we had a great experience. We visited during lunch hours and the restaurant was very quiet. There were only two other tables when we arrived. It was very pleasant to not be overwhelmed with an overcrowded and loud space.
We ordered the beef combo with beef brisket, ribeye, marinated short rib, outside skirt, and soy bean stew. The server grills the meat at your table for you and you just grab pieces from the BBQ. The meat was all DELICIOUS and expertly cooked by our server. The banchan was okay. I am spoiled and my grandmother makes me fresh banchan so in comparison to her homemade items, the restaurant offerings were fair. We got cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, bean sprouts, fish cake, jalapeños, and maybe something else I may have forgotten. The dipping sauces and salt were very good and we also enjoyed the steamed egg, small garden salad, and scallion salad that was offered with the combo. The soybean stew was wonderful. Tasty and comforting with mushrooms, zucchini, onion, and beef.
The meats were definitely the star of the show with the outside skirt being the best, marinated short rib next, followed by the ribeye and the brisket last. It was all really good and we were able to bring plenty home for leftovers.
The quality of the meats and cooked dishes is top notch and all for a very good price.
The restaurant is very clean with modern decor and the service is great! This is a great place to celebrate special occasions or just to enjoy a nice lunch with your...
