Still too dirty for my taste but everything else was great. I don't think I've ever seen anyone clean ever in one of these stores. Imagine...
But I'm going to add a quick experience with a stereo install that took place that in California with a 2013 John Cooper Works Mini Cooper... I did not have the Harmon-Kardon stereo speakers at that time, so I wanted an upgrade. I went to the dealer and asked about it and they said don't do it because of how the vehicles are wired. Lots of research into customization. Lots of research into cost. I ended up just wanting different speakers instead of the defaults without changing the wiring, could you just walk the speakers out? Yes..and so it began. I decided to go to Best Buy like an idiot and buy mid tie speakers speakers. The installer was really cool, very nice to me and very self confident but also never worked on a JCW before. That is the point I wish I would have paid more attention to.
When I received my vehicle back, there was a capacitor problem because the tweeters weren't working. I pointed it out and he said he had to put a capacitor on the speaker so that he could cut the highs and send the highs to the tweeters. Okay, so why if all I wanted was the speaker swapped out? Whatever. Hes going to fix it "real quick". ..and it's fixed.
And after that was fixed, driving on the freeway a day later, my entire center console dies and starts smoking up through the center dash speaker (board's fried). Massive, massive issue. Here's the thing, it's new. So that board is under warranty. I don't know if it's connected to the stereo issue are not. Did the console cause the speakers to shut off or did the speakers cause the console to shut off?
I went to the dealer, didn't tell them anything except that the console had blown, and when they did their tear down they saw the other speakers... stopped... and gave my car back saying you voided your warranty by modding your car audio. Fine. I went to Best Buy to try to get them to look at it again and the installer found that the capacitor shorted and that he'd be happy to swap the capacitor out, but that's where his work stopped. It's not an installers job to understand voltage, wattage and amperage and how something's wired with a vehicle you've never worked with before. The shame is clearly on me at this point.
But it was just speakes, and the installer took it upon himself to apply caps as a natural method in his assumption in the install. And noone took the totality of the issue (Probably because each side wanted me to see it as my fault).
I was starting to feel like I needed a forensic investigation so that I could find out for sure if it was me or Best Buy or the vehicle warranty. I wasn't asking for any wiring or any center console change, just the speakers. I only wanted the old speakers taken out and the new speakers plugged in. Apparently, if you own a mini, you are never ever supposed to do that. I did not find that anywhere. Just that you shouldn't modify your wiring or go full complete custom.
I had that happen for about three months. I remember going into that Best Buy and pulling the floor manager aside and telling him about my issue and the utter frustration and anger I was feeling towards the lack of resolution. He, of course, agreed, but not genuinely, as they did not fix it. Puppets.
Then Mini stepped up. Mini fixed it, Thank you! The new speakers were ripped out, the wiring was redone, and the center console computer was swapped. And everything was back to normal.
Returning to Best Buy with the receipt from Mini to show the installer what had to be replaced from his work, I was then told I could never come back to Best Buy for a stereo installation again. My Mini was banned for life.
So, if I ever bring my current vehicle into a Best Buy, 11 years later now, I would ask the installer if he could sign a form for me that states that they understand voltage, amperage, and wattage as it pertains to that...
Read moreMy mother died, my family is grieving, my kids are suppose to be enjoying functioning PCS, and I am pay check to pay check like everyone else right now. But BEST BUY DOESNT CARE. They have DONE NOTHING to help make this right. I live 45-1hr away so I have spent hours driving, hours on the phone, and now am expected to fix THEIR ERROR and figure out how to float a bill I should never have had to pay. I for one will be letting everyone I know hear this story. Hopefully I will be able to keep people from making the same mistake I did in getting a PC from best buy. So much for being a My Best Buy Total member…what a joke.
My mother bought 2 new pcs (BOTH ARRIVED DEFECTIVE) for Christmas presents for my kids shortly before she passed away. And “best buy” has RUINED the grieving process and Christmas gifts by dumping tons more stress into it these past two months.
PC 1- Picked up Oct 6. Very quickly we saw issues with the first one. We spent a disgusting amount of time on the phone with their geek squad, all to be told it needed to be taken into the store. Once there (Oct 9), we were told pretty quickly the operating system wasn’t functioning correctly and the pc had to be replaced. We were able to get a functioning pc on Oct 17. They did not charge us, they did an exchange/return.
PC 2- Picked up Oct 6. Everything appeared fine until we ran out of memory. These pcs are suppose to have a 500mbSSD and a 1TB HDD. Again, a disgusting amount of time on the phone with people just to be told to go back into the store. Initially I was told to go buy a hard drive at another location and they would refund it to me and install it same day. But just before I got to the store (Nov 22), the story changed. Now it was, the only way we can take care of you is to replace it with a new one or send it in for repairs. Only this time, they wanted me to buy a new computer instead of doing another return/exchange. Who can float a random $1500+ on their card, I can’t. I explained this, but they said it was the only way. I asked if I’d get refunded and they said yes. Fast forward, the new PC arrives (Dec 1) and I have to ask for the refund. And when they do it, they don’t do it on my card, the one that can’t float it, they refund it to a CLOSED ACCOUNT OF MY DEAD MOTHER. When I confront them about this, they say they can’t do anything for me, I need to go talk to the bank of the card.

Read moreI spent $5000 on appliances and only the fridge was installed properly. I was told the gas line was incorrect but it was fine. The last person who did install the range installed it improperly with the incorrect line but I bought a new line for it threw the company. Then the dish washer and microwave was supposed to come the following weekend. They were supposed to come between 0700 and 1200. At 300pm someone called me and said they went to the wearhouse and it wasn't there to call and they can figure out what went wrong. This gentleman also said he was available on Wednesday to install it. I called with the response being I only need to make a appointment to install everything is there which I explained the issue and was told I would get a call back that day. At almost 800pm I called back due to no call and put in a second request for first thing in the am callback. I did not receive a call so I drove down to the store and asked what was going on and they said they were not sure and everything is in the back including the microwave which was the last one in stock. I am pretty sure it was at the wearhouse the whole time. I played the recording which said I would get the Wednesday appointment but they said they would have to schedule the appointment on 9/28 and call me in the morning for a push up appointment. Was also told the phone system doesn't work to write an email. I never received a call in the morning or an email back. Wednesday came and went no one came to deliver. Went back to the store and told them I don't trust them since the microwave is the last one and I didn't want them to sell it out from under me. I asked to pick it up and get an appointment to install and hall away that, install my tip stand on the range that was supposed to occur and the dishwasher which they still had. I got an appointment on 9/16 at that time. In the morning the install of the microwave was canceled including the hall away and warranty and the tip stand was never scheduled. By the way all of these installs I paid extra for. I called again and explained all of this to corporate who rescheduled everything and replaced the hall away. I did ask for compensation for theses and was told I have to wait until the final install! Has not been the best experience at all. I don't think I would have gotten anything delivered if I didn't go down there. The worst part is I still don't have my appliances yet! The fridge and the range are great products but if you can buy...
