I have done 7 escape rooms and my boyfriend has done 6 (we also had two others that have both done one). This room was our least favorite (and not because we lost, haha). This room we felt was extremely challenging due to the fact that there wasnât much to go off of and it felt like there was no direction we were supposed to go in. Our gamemaster basically had to hold out hand throughout the entire game and give us clues because (in our opinion), not much of it made sense or was extremely hard to figure out.
At the end, we asked how we were supposed to get a certain clue, and honestly I donât know how anyone couldâve seen it. There were some good clues and towards the end it felt like more of an escape room, but we have never had to have our hands held so much throughout a game and basically be given answers. Most escape rooms have multiple clues/puzzles you can solve at once, whereas this one it was basically only one clue at a time, so you have a group of people all staring at one clue and youâre stuck until you can figure out the next one.
The other negative is that you get docked ~5 minutes after only 3 incorrect guesses, which makes it really discouraging to try to solve things, because 5 minutes is a BIG chunk to lose in games like these.
We LOVE escape rooms but was just disappointed by this one. When it gets to a point that people need to be straight up given answers and clues for each puzzle, thereâs something thatâs not working out with it. Normally I would just say maybe it was a rough day for us and our brains werenât working, but being that we have multiple experiences under our belt all across the country and this has never happened, I think it may have been the...
Read moreMy friends and I played Abducted. We had a mix of experience levels but combined we have played about 150 escape rooms. We have seen a range of good and bad rooms at may different budget levels; however, this was definitely the worst experience any of us have ever had.
At the start, the game master didnât set us up with the theme of the room. She basically just told us that some people would be handcuffed and some wouldnât and then took us into the room. Once in there, she told us which two locks to not try more than three times because if it locks us out, then itâs an automatic loss. This seems like a weird mindset for them to want their players to have as they are playing the game. This was especially frustrating because there wasnât a flow or progression to the game that made us know when and where we needed put in answers. This lead us to always question if we should actually try the code or answer we got because we didnât want to end up âautomatically losing.â There were locks switched around and broken, we were given clues for puzzles that we later found out werenât in the room, when things didnât work we were just given answers with no explanation of why, when it was over we had no idea we won or that the game was over, and it was evident that we were very frustrated about everything. However, the game master was defensive and explained that this room is âjust confusingâ because you donât get to start together.
The new players in our group said that if they didnât know any better, they would probably not ever play an escape room again. This makes me sad because we love escape rooms and want the industry to remain something that people are...
Read moreOur group did the room âthe hauntingâ. Sadly, we were very disappointed. It was advertised as a âscaryâ escape room which it wasnât at all. It was actually extremely lame We surprisingly got out with 5 minutes to spare despite A lot of the locks and clues not working. Overall, we felt like it was not worth the money and a waste of our time. If you want a real thrill you must try real escapes âthe mineâ in...
