Tucked into Harvest Hall off Main Street in Grapevine, I was pleasantly surprised to find a little joint to serve up one of my all time favs - lobster roll!
I can’t tell you how many times we have driven and walked past the train depot and never noticed Harvest Hall right next door.
It’s a great food court with a nice array of interesting choices. However, as much as I want to try them all, this review is meant to focus on Dock Local.
What a surprise to have fresh seafood choices for lunch in a food court type setting! The menu had several items I would like to try, but once I saw options for lobster rolls, I was ‘hooked’. They are one of my favorites. Whether you like them served hot or cold, you will find one for you.
I chose the Connecticut because I can’t pass up a warm lobster roll on a cold, windy day. It did not disappoint. The bread was perfectly toasted and seasoned. It was reminiscent of Texas toast. The lobster was piled high, sweet and tender. They served it with a side of clarified butter (yes, please) and a couple of lemon wedges. It also came with wonderful, crispy chips. The sandwich was delicious, I only wish there was more. But alas, that’s typically my only regret when I find a nice lobster roll.
To keep the theme, and to warm up more on a blustery day, I also had a bowl of lobster bisque. Well, it was fine, nothing to write home about, but it was reasonably priced and was a nice side to my roll. The only lobster I found in the bisque was the tiny piece that adorned the top as a garnish. I did have a bit of lobster I could spare from my sandwich, so I added those small pieces to the bisque. This perked it up quite nicely.
Save yourself a few bucks and instead of ordering a bottled water, take advantage of the water dispenser across from the order desk. I discovered it after I had paid for my lunch. I love the fact that the food court offers this amenity.
I’m looking forward to the next visit so I can enjoy other...
Read moreOrdered the Connecticut Lobster Roll. Was hesitant due to the high price ($29 after tax) but figured based on the good reviews, it would be worth it. What I got was a pile of flavorless, dry lobster meat in a 5 inch "roll" (tasted like regular cheapo white bread) with a side of 5 cucumber slices. No fries, no aioli, no butter, no mayo, nothing. They didn't really even use much seasoning. If you're going to charge $29 for an entree with no sides at a walk-up in a food court, I feel like you should nail it, but instead this was a dud compared to the items we ordered from...

I recently visited Dock Local in Grapevine, and overall, the experience was just okay. The food was pretty mid-range. The cod was thickly breaded, which overpowered the fish itself, and the fries were way too salty. The fish tacos were a bit of a saving grace, with a decent flavor and good sauce, but they couldn't completely redeem the meal. The queso was disappointing—thick with no real flavor, and the grilled cheese wasn't up to par either. Not the best seafood...
