I fancy myself an expert on chicken shawarmas. Ever since my parents took me to a Jordanian restaurant and I had my first one I was hooked. It’s my go-to comfort food when it comes to Mediterranean food. So as I was passing through town I decided I needed a good food break instead of fast food. I have not been this disappointed in a long time. When it comes to service the people were nice but the person taking orders had a very soft spoken voice that I had to keep leaning I. To hear and apparently she could t hear and understand me very well. The music in this place is loud tonight. The process to order and pay os efficient. They texted me a few minutes later when my food was ready. When I unwrapped the meal I was immediately sad. It was wrapped in a tortilla. A Mexican tortilla wrap. But I said hey let’s give it a try. The bite turned out to be a mistake. The chicken had a chewy previously frozen texture or reheated texture. It also had that glazed over look. Like the eyes of a drug addict. The seasoning was not terrible, very close to traditional shawarma. I wasn’t happy but I figured I shouldn’t waste it. Then my tooth struck the motherload of things you don’t want in your mouth, bone. And then I was done. I honestly though this Zatar must be related to the one in Deep Ellum. Sadly...
Read moreI am very picky when it comes to any Mediterranean foods as my moms home cooking sets the bar incredibly high. I went to visit this awesome little place with my sister, nephews, and nieces. And we were so incredibly happy and satisfied with the food we had. We got the lamb, and shishtawouk with rice. We had the Greek salad, Falafel, and zatar fries! Oh my goodness to tell you how mouth watering and amazing it all tasted is an understatement. You have to go there and try it for yourself. The meat is tender and juicy and the flavor is just right. The rice is fluffy and made to perfection. The flafel are perfectly fried crunchy outside with a soft perfectly cooked inside. Oh and don’t get me started on the toum (garlic sauce) - idk anyone who eats it and ends up with garlic breath. Well here….it’s PERFECTED. not over whelming and makes you want to dip everything in it! It’s better than my moms! And the fries…I love good French fries. These are my new all time favorites. This place is absolutely delicious and worth the visit! Can’t wait to keep...
Read moreI had the Lamb Kabob, Gyro and the Chicken Shawarma plate. The seasonings were really tasty. All plates were served with rice and a salad. Even after a week of snow storms everything was still served fresh. The salad had a purple pickled turnip that really enhanced the flavor. I don't think I'd ever eaten a turnip before and had to ask what it was. Service was prompt and they text you when your order is ready.
The restaurant itself is inside Harvest Hall with maybe 3 other places in a food court style venue. All of the places looked fast casual. Not everyone in your family has to agree when you come to Harvest Hall. There's plenty of seating inside as well as a large outdoor patio area with tables. I'll be coming back again for sure! I found parking near the train station on the other side...
