My first visit to this restaurant and I'd have to say that I wasn't impressed. I didn't go in with any expectations about it as I was meeting a group of friends after church there. It is billed as Latin street food so I figured awesome I love tacos, authentic Mexican food etc as I was married to a Latina for 13 years and learned to cook a lot of authentic Latin cuisine. I ordered an arapa which is basically a thick corn tortilla split open into a pocket and stuffed with whatever you order. It's like a pita if your white and a gordita if your Mexican. I had the pulled brisket with cheese and a side of fries and a drink and it was $17.That's very expensive for street food. I'm guessing the location has a lot to do with the pricing. If it was located in a lower income area it would have been about $9-10 bucks. Anyway back to the food. I get my food and it's an arapa with a side salad, well not exactly a side salad but a few pieces if spring mix on the side with a little dressing. I'd guess about 4 bites. I pick up my arapa and immediately grease starts dripping out all over my plate. I turned it upside down and squeezed for a good 15-20 seconds and it kept flowing. I guess they do brisket a little different and leave it soaking in grease and it's own fat. It squirted everytime I took a bite. The taste wasn't that bad but nothing to cheer about either. The grease didn't help the cause for sure. The fries were good and there are many healthier options to choose from. I did taste a friend's fried plantains for dessert. They were pretty decent tasting. That's my experience, feel free to check it out and see for yourself. Friends enjoyed their salads, grilled chicken and the black beans. So there's that. I will not be going back on my own but if friends were going I guess I would give it another try. I'd give the pulled pork a try next time. Hopefully it's less greasy than the beef. Staff was friendly, it was clean and they have a front and back entrance. The seating in the back is good for groups. We had about 20 people and there was...
Read moreThis was the food my wife and I selected when stopping at Harvest Hall on a very busy Saturday in December. The Hall was packed on the December weekend, which one would expect in Grapevine, but because of the spacing of the food outlets and the fact that alcohol drinks could be a separate order at the bar, it kept lines smaller. Arepa had just one person ordering in front of me. We placed our orders and they took my phone number to text when it was ready since the Hall is large and an open table could be out of direct line of site or hearing from the food. Preparation was fast. I had the Pork Carnitas Bowl which I would have to describe as average at best and not worth the hefty $19 price. I have had better bowls for much less price at fast food restaurants of all kinds. I understand that the price of items is driven by the location, but my bowl should have been much better for the price. My wife had the Chicken Taco Salad. This was a better price and better execution. Good crisp bowl shell, fresh lettuce and a good mix of the other items. Chicken was what was expected in terms of amount and flavor. If we visit Harvest Hall again in the future, we will try another of the...
Read moreWent here for arepas after trying a small sample of them at one of the Yelp events. I walked in and was welcomed by a wave of onions, peppers, and grilled chicken. I looked at the menu while I waited in line, but I still could not decide what I wanted. Their menu is a mix of arepas, tacos, and bowls with a combination of chicken, beef, pork, and vegetable options. I decided to get their spicy chicken arepa and their spicy pork taco.
The spicy chicken arepa came between two thick pieces of bread with thick chunks of avocado and onions. It was oh so good!! I did not want it to end, but it did and I waw sad. But, then I was happy again as I realized that I had a taco left to eat. Omg the taco was delicious. It was a little more salty than I usually like, but overall it was just so good. The meat was stewed and seasoned so right!
I definitely will retun to Arepas. I love that they have lunch specials, so I will be back at...
