MUST READ- I’ve been a member of the Grapevine Recreation Center for years, and I am deeply disappointed with the recent changes in how the soccer field is managed. For nearly a decade, dozens of community members—myself included—have been using this taxpayer-funded field for full-field pick-up soccer, a tradition that has fostered community and activity. The field is specifically reserved for open-play soccer from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., as noted on the schedule, yet the new management has introduced an unwritten and arbitrary “policy” forcing us to play half-field games, allegedly to accommodate others who might want to play.
This rule is neither posted on-site nor on their website, and there’s no precedent for enforcing such restrictions. The hypocrisy is glaring, as full-court basketball is allowed weekly without issue, yet soccer players—who regularly gather in large numbers—are unfairly targeted. To add insult to injury, management even threatened to call law enforcement if we didn’t comply. This is a public field funded by tax dollars, and it’s outrageous that long-time members like myself are being restricted in how we use it.
If this is the direction the new management is taking, it seriously makes me reconsider my membership. Grapevine deserves better transparency, fairness, and respect for its community. I strongly urge the management to rethink this unjust and poorly...
Read moreI love the Rec!! Amazing price for all they offer. Being a smaller gym you get to know familiar faces quickly. Ping pong, basketball, racquetball, free weights, hammer strength, and machines. Good amount of Cardio equipment. There are some issues: People sit on their phones and hold up equipment even though the gym rules say not to hog equipment. The staff does nothing about it. They have a great dry sauna, but the staff doesn't do anything to make sure the sanitary rules are followed. The sign says to sit on a towel and nothing to drink in the sauna. I would say 1% sit on a towel (basically just me, my wife, and I've seen maybe 2 others), so they just sweat ALL OVER the wood bench and then get up and leave a disgusting sweaty mess. Some lay down without a towel and just soak a large portion of the seating. It says no drinking in the sauna and a large majority of people take in drinks. The towel is most irritating and just plain gross. As you can see even with these complaints I still gave it 5 stars. Gym etiquette is...
Read moreAbsolutely love this facility! It’s super clean amazing equipment. I understand that covid has left certain regulations according to masks. However when you work out sometimes you need to pull your masks down to take a breath or drink some water or readjust. I attend this gym almost every day. Every single day I come there is someone hassling me about my masks. Hassling.. today I had a young lady lecture me about the the safety of masks when all was needed was a simple “please pull your masks up miss” Proceeded by “did you hear me”
To top it off I come to this gym in about the same attire every. single. Day. Leggings/gym crop. 15 minutes after this young lady didn’t like that I didn’t give her the response she wanted.. another young lady came over to me to tell me I was out of dress code and would be asked to leave. I wear the same clothes every single day and no one ever says ANYTHING to me. So.. I’m tired of being targeted and if leaving a review is what I have to do.....
