I would recommend this restaurant location after a first visit with minimal issues encountered while dining.
I arrived here with my spouse as a result of a Father's Day celebration. We had a little bit of a hard time trying to find the entrance upon our arrival. The exterior of the building has a baseball player in the ground in front of the restaurant entrance. We walked in through the double doors and observed and immediate bouquet a very nicely arranged flowers. We entered the second set of double doors and was greeted by the hostess who ushered us to a seat at a booth next to a large dining room area. While walking through the restaurant, we noticed on the main walkway, there was a nice and warm fire burning in the wall. My spouse was cold and this was a plus for her. The server was at our table within a few minutes. She took our order and brought back some water quickly. We had to wait quite a while for the food to come to the table. Both my wife and I ordered broccoli for our dishes and the broccoli did not seem okay. It had a slight frozen taste to it and not fresh. My wife really enjoyed the blackened salmon she was served. I enjoyed some of the prime rib I received that was cooked as I ordered...the rest of it, was a bit too bloody for me to eat even with the dipping sauce. I decided to save the rest of it for later and take it home where I could enjoy it the rest of the prime rib after searing it a bit more. The beef meal was brought to the table with the broccoli and the prime rib, but they forgot to bring the garlic mashed potatoes which was supposed to be served with the dish. I asked for the garlic mashed potatoes and they promptly brought them to the table. Once we got close to finishing our food the server came by and grabbed the plates to put the food in a to-go bag. I did have to use the restroom, so I went to take a look and use the facility. The area was clean, decorated, and without any bad smell. I did note that there was a very pleasant smell emanating throughout the restroom. I did note that the paper towels used in the restroom were extremely soft and durable to the point that it was similar in texture to cloth material. This was a surprisingly nice touch. The server came back by soon enough to drop off the check. We paid our bill and promptly left...
Read moreWe dined at The Winewood Grill last night, 11.16.22 with guests from out of town. We had selected the restaurant based on the reviews I had read. I have to say, we were severely disappointed.
We arrived for our 6:30pm reservation, were seated quickly. After that it went downhill. Our waitperson, was slow to greet us, and not very attentive. When he did interact with us, he was very polite and knowledgeable and made good recommendations. We placed our order, filets, crab cakes, oyster Rockefeller and the jambalaya. Then we waited...for over one and a half hours we waited. I mentioned the delay twice, received the answer it will be there shortly both times. I finally asked for bread for the table since we had a child with us that was getting hungry.
Not once did a manager stop by to check on us or explain the delay. Our waitperson came back finally and said that the kitchen had burned a steak, this was at the one and half hour mark. The food finally came, mine was lukewarm. One of the side dishes, broccoli, took another 10+ minutes to get to the table, we had to ask about it twice.
Again, a manager did not stop by to check on us after such a delay. When our waitperson came back to see if we wanted dessert, it was not offered complimentary to apologize for the delay, nor was the bread or broccoli. When we received the bill, I had to ask for those to be comped. Still a manger did not stop by to ask why.
I have worked in and with the food service industry for many years. With friends and family members as GM's, kitchen managers and waitstaff. I understand how crazy it can get sometimes, and I understand that the labor market right now is not that great. What I do not understand is the lack of attentiveness from the Manager on site last night. The buck stops there.
The reason this review is even getting two stars it that my guests enjoyed their food, and said it was very good.
Customer service and food quality are the two most important areas for a restaurant. The customer service...
Read moreTo be totally honest, my here was not the best when I arrived the house was great but when my waiter came to my table, I automatically knew he didn’t want to serve me. Although he did describe their food thoroughly I could tell he did not want to serve me when I arrived, I asked you to start browsing their drinks, but before I came, I talk to a manager and he told me to come in between 2 and 4 PM for open interviews probably assuming that I was not black due to my professional so I get there something to drink and I order a burger and fries truffle Parmesan fries and I asked to talk to a manager is 2 PM now maybe about 2:05 and my waiter go to the manager, says that I want to speak to him they were directly across from me in the middle of the floor. In between some tables they were moving some chairs, and , he never came back and let me know anything by time I’m done eating and I paste out my food. I asked to see the manager again. He said he probably won’t be able to see you today but I’ll go ask him so then he comes back and says he’s really busy. He won’t be able to get with you today, but I’ll take your application. I said no thank you I’ll just keep it and I feel like they were very racist there he saw me as a young black woman. They were no other black workers there and The place was totally empty not totally empty, but I know a busy restaurant when I see one I’ve been waitressing since I was 18 he didn’t wanna greet me or interview me.
