I saw a movie with a client of mine, who paid $3 and they let me in for free. I doubt they advertise that so it's a good thing to know :) The theater is actually pretty huge, and the prices are very reasonable. I got a large soda and medium popcorn for less than $7 together. What a deal! They also have espresso in the building but I haven't tried it yet. I've been to Wunderland many times and I gotta say the theater here is twice as big, and I can see the coffee being a plus for sure. Staff was friendly and quick, pretty good first experience. However as with anything it's not perfect. For me the bathroom could have been better. The men's room had one sink, one urinal, and one stall. No mirror and the stall as well as most of the building is not wheelchair accessible. This wasn't a problem for us but definitely worth noting. Also the steps are wood so when people get up you can kind of hear them leaving, especially kids. No cup holders either. Really though these are very minor annoyances and we...
Read moreAbout 90% of our movie nights are at the Mt. Hood Theater. They run second-run movies for $4, which is significantly more affordable than a standard movie house price these days. During the summer they do a 10-pack of kids movies for $10 through local schools. You cannot beat their prices, and they get the major movies--all pretty main stream--nothing daring, but for a family on a budget, absolutely give them a shot. Cons? Concessions are still a little high, there's only one screen, so choices are limited, the facility is a little run down, and the parking lot is a postage stamp with Gestapo neighbors (Riegelmann's) who post signs all over about no theater parking. That being said, you get the movie experience in an unexpectedly old fashioned theater house for a fraction of the price of big...
Read moreThinking about this place always brings a smile to my face. And I feel like the theatre is living its best life right now! I've been going here maybe 25 years, and I've always had wonderful experiences. There were years when it was a million degrees in the upper section, years when the springs in the seats poked you through an entire double-feature, but that never mattered because of the wonderful atmosphere they've created. Flash forward to today, they have done such an amazing job updating everything while still keeping the soul of the theatre whole. The snack options are fantastic (the popcorn, that I've eaten my weight in, and especially the pineapple soft serve!), the staff are wonderful, and you can tell how much the owners care about this place. I...
