This gem of a community is well cared for by the locals and the dedicated Gulfport city workers. You can spend a whole day here, there is something for everyone. Free parking with access to Walking paths, skateboard ramp, a playground, basketball hoops, clean restrooms and many picnic pavilions. You’ll find public yoga at 10:00am on Fridays and Sundays. The bathrooms are clean, there is a nice shower outside. Multiple benches and swings allow you to enjoy the beautiful water views. A fishing pier and kayak launch are just steps away. The beach does not allow dogs though, if you try you will likely find yourself in a conversation with the local police. Oh and dolphins are a regular sighting. :) If you see the man in my photo, his name is John Paul. He is often talking loudly to a number of historic figures and may even say a bad word on occasion. However, he is a kind soul and will speak to you politely and he loves coffee.

I love spending time with my dog here. I love that they have a fairly regular yoga meeting on the beach, and even though the beach says no dogs allowed, this town is so great that nobody really cares as long as you clean up after your animal! Did you read that? Clean up after your freaking animal!!! This is a great place to take your kayaks, paddle boards, or what have you right off of the beach. It doesn't seem too busy most of the time either which we love, unlike Clearwater Beach for example.

Loved this little town. Everyone was so kind, and welcoming. There are porch like swings along the beach. It even has an edible garden not too far. First time I say I felt comfortable in Florida. There were pride flags all over. Tons of eateries and places to swim. Take someone special to see the sunset. Great place to keep your sailboat as well. Definitely a must see!

July 4th Celebration

Pleased that Gulfport continues to invest in fireworks for the July 4 celebration. The beach event has become tradition for our family. Perfect small town vibe. That being said - Parks should have closed the volleyball court by dusk that night. The event is fireworks on the beach - not dodge ball with fireworks. We arrived about dusk and sat closer to the water than the court...while waiting we saw several people - children and seniors included - hit by volleyball misses from a group of entitled hipsters who clearly overestimate their athletic abilities. Or were drunk. Everyone who was hit was sitting well away from the court, but the child was still hit hard enough to make them cry ( the 20-something who came for the ball blew it off and laughed) . It's one event, one night, in the dark....attendees should not have to dodge incomings.

A...

If your lifestyle includes going out to the casino, bars & grills. Or maybe shopping for souvenirs, nick-nacks or the street vendors then this is the place to go. Even the kids can play on the playground equipment which has been upgraded. And more improvements are planned. However, don't bother going into the water. What a cess pool it has become though out the years. The seabed is nasty. If playing in the sand is your thing, that is not too bad. City does keep it tractor raked. Overall, it's a nice place to kick back and take in the scenery and sounds of the...
