First time here, New Year's Eve reservations at 5:00 was seated promptly by very friendly host. Had a perfect seat right in front of the window overlooking the sunset. Our waitresses name was Ralen, She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She even offered a gluten-free menu after hearing a comment I made about a gluten intolerance. I ordered the surf and turf medium rare, three grilled shrimp, potatoes au gratin, and Julianne vegetables. I don't give out great compliments often but it was truly one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The meat was not marinated but seasoned to perfection and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The potatoes and vegetables were also cooked to perfection paired with a house Cabernet have to say it's one of the best meals in a while. My dining partner had the filet with a twice baked potato and asparagus medley. The filet was marinated and extremely tender but I have to say after trying both my unmarinated but seasoned perfectly sirloin medallions were far superior and more juicy. We finished the dinner with a creme brulee that was topped with fresh whipped cream and sliced strawberries (which was a little unexpected treat). A great meal coupled with an exceptional waitress made for a great New Year's Eve. Just a couple of negatives and not really even negatives but the artichoke appetizer was literally three small spoons on 3 chips, delicious but so ridiculously small it was almost laughable. Something I felt was a little off was the lighting It was so extremely bright in the restaurant that it was almost uninviting. Looking into the bar area I would feel very uncomfortable because the lights were shining down so bright they were almost like interrogation lights. Just did not feel like a welcoming cozy sitting relax and have drinks environment. But nothing that would make me not want to go back again except I would not sit in the bar but I would in the...
Read moreMy Lady and I was seeking a fine dining experience. When we arrived at the restaurant which was "conveniently located" right next to a rail road crossing, we were already dissappointed. This was clearly not going to be a 5 star experience. They attempted a rustic old town feel, but it came off a bit outdated and cheaply put together. I also feel like the patrons were being herded together rather than allowing us to spread out for a bit more privacy in an uncrowded place. We never received the bread. Carrots served cold. Her steak was only cooked to order on half the meat, the other half was completely raw. My filet was done well enough though. Chocolate lava cake over done. No top shelf scotch, best option available was Glenfiddich 12.
The biggest issue here is when we asked the hostess (a young lady with black lipstick) to get the attention of our server, she did not oblige but instead insisted on us telling her what was wrong. So we proceeded to do so, and the hostess became argumentative and confrontational, and attempted to intsigate a physical confrontation. I had to instruct her to walk away. When our server did come by we immediately asked for management. Instead we got the owner. Better. The owner made a nice recovery, apologized sincerely for his employees behavior and reduced our bill by about a third, as well as assured us of the employees termination. In short, this is a nice family restaurant when there isn't a train rumbling by, but it is not the fine dining experience I was hoping for or I think the owner was hoping to make of it. Prior to the confrontation. 3 stars After the confrontation. 1 star After speaking with the owner. I'll give 4 stars, just because I can see his vision and hope that this steakhouse can rise to its potential. I hope to return, and be able to...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We booked a table and when we arrived we had to wait a bit because a large table had just finished their celebration and just left. This was not an issues as we were there on a Friday night and apparently this night was dance night at the event hall. A decent size gentleman in a polo shirt noticed I had poked my head into the event hall ( I was marveling at the craftsmanship of the bar in there) he asked me if I was here for the dance. I have two left feet and although I am married to a professional dancer, I informed that I was not. My wife and I continued our conversation until I heard amazing violin playing from the hall. This set the mood for the evening. We were led to our table and quickly met our waiter, Ryan. I’m pretty sure that was his name. He was attentive and informative. He got our water and drinks quickly and even introduced my wife to an upside down pineapple cake martini. It was remarkable. It tasted just like the cake. We both had a good look at the menu. It was not a giant menu which is a good sign. I am usually a beef filet guy. But their signature cut is a delmonico rib eye. My wife ordered the filet but Ryan suggested I try the blackened rib eye. I did. It was fabulous. My wife ordered the filet with the blue cheese butter. She loved it. We left enough room for desert. My wife chose the crème brûlée. This was the only minor issues. The flavor was lovely but the custard had not set up and was a bit runny. But it still tasted really good. However, this will not stop us coming back with the rest of the family. The atmosphere, service and food and price was really good. Thank you for a great experience for a couple celebrating their 27th wedding...
