Chick N Roll (Hampton) — Restaurant in Hampton

We went as a couple on Sunday for lunch and ordered the Thai Tea boba, medium soy garlic chicken bites, King Katsu sandwich, and potato croquettes.

We were extremely happy with the food. The King Katsu sandwich is BIG and delicious. It’s got the perfect crispness and flavor with the right amount of sauce. I even preferred this katsu over the one I had a week prior at a Japanese curry place. I am familiar with another Korean fried chicken place, but I do not like bone in chicken - Chick N Roll completely solves this and is my new go to place. The bites were also flavorful and juicy. No complaints about the croquettes either that were in fact crisp, loved the drizzle on top, and totally mouthwatering. The Thai Tea boba was acceptable; I added brown sugar jellies on accident thinking they were regular pearls and it was still good. There’s other places to go for great custom boba. I suggest going for the food here; that is really the focus.

The service was a surprise and very attentive. We were greeted, you can sit wherever you want, and order/pay via your smartphone or a kiosk at the counter. They bring you your food and the server checked on us multiple times during our meal to make sure we were taken care of. There is self serve complimentary iced water/cups next to the soda fountain.

The atmosphere is also very nice. It has a casual setting that is comfy, but the instrumental music on the speakers makes it relaxing and calm as well. The place was very clean and offers multiple seating arrangements.

I will definitely go again and can’t wait to try another flavor chicken bites & have my eyes on the hibiscus tea. I do wish the corndogs they offered were like korean street corndogs, but I will keep dreaming for that in my area. I have been a customer of Chick N Roll (Hampton) for a while and used to really enjoy their food, but unfortunately my most recent experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered wings, and what I received was unacceptable the wings were either overcooked to the point of being tough and dry, or possibly leftovers that had been sitting around. To make things worse, they didn’t even have the sauce that I ordered, so the meal was completely lacking in flavor.

I decided to call the restaurant to let them know about the issue, expecting that they would want to make things right. Instead, I was told that if I wanted a replacement order or a refund, I would need to drive all the way back to the store myself. That is not what I consider good customer service. Mistakes can happen, but how a business handles them matters. Unfortunately, Alex, the store owner, showed no real concern or effort to resolve the situation. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority.

It’s disappointing to see the standards here dropping. This used to be a place I recommended, but after this experience, I can’t say the same. When a restaurant can’t ensure quality food and doesn’t care enough to make things right when they fall short, it leaves a lasting negative impression. Just ordered some last night. The texture and quality of the chicken was super great, the chicken was nice and crispy on the outside but still tender and juicy on the inside. However, I'm a bit of a spice nut. So naturally I had to try the Spicy Lover chicken. I personally thought a lot of the flavors of it were very subdued and subtle. It wasn't unenjoyable, but I'd really love some more pronounced flavors.

The fries had a nice crisp to them as well, solid texture, but were a bit lacking in salt. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little bit of salt once you sit down to eat.

I can't speak to the rest of their sauces and flavors of course, but overall the food was good. I just have different preferences and would love to see more options in the spicy flavor range.
