We have familiarity with Indian food, so we did a simple order to try them out. Palak paneer, butter chicken and naan bread because if those are not good...well, you know what I mean. So here is what I think. It's a very clean place. The woman who took my order was genuinely friendly, very efficient and spoke perfect English. The food was ready quickly but not too quickly and packaged perfectly to go, and with care. I got it home in a couple of minutes and it was still piping hot. The butter chicken was delicious and spicy as we requested it to be, although they gave me a choice which I appreciated. It's like having a sumptuous feast of flavor for your mouth, but not too liquid. The perfect creamy consistency for dipping. It came with rice which was flavorful and cooked just right, a perfect textural counterbalance to the creamyness of the sauce. The chicken could be cut with a fork and was moist and infused with goodness. The palak paneer was just plain good, with an unexpected depth and complexity of flavor. Lastly was the naan bread. Soft and luxurious and delicious and so fresh. Altogether the food presented a medley of taste, smell and textures that can't be called anything other than comfort food done right.
We are very pleased and can't wait to explore the rest of the menu. It's also conveniently located, easy to find, and just a short drive from either 90 or from the Irving Park exit of 390.
I highly suggest you...
Read moreThe food here tastes pretty good! And I've tried Saffron restaurant, Kolachi Tandoori Grill, Taj Mahal Indian restaurant, and Priya. And I think India Foodie tastes the best! But I wish they could fix the menu in Yelp? One time I ordered the "Chicken Tikka Masala" on Yelp/Grubhub for delivery, and I thought I was getting the "Chicken Tikka Masala" but instead I got a "Chicken Tikka." I will attach the picture of what the Chicken Tikka looks like below. And when you look at the menu in Yelp/Grubhub with the pictures. There "Chicken Tikka" picture shows a "Chicken Tikka Masala." And there "Chicken Tikka Masala" when you order it, you get a "Chicken Tikka" instead. The food at India Foodie is pretty good but curious why Indian food around here is so expensive? When I lived in Southern California, I was getting Indian food at a place called, "Curry Hut" in La Mirada, California. And they give you a lot of food plus Naans at a cost way less than all the Indian food places around here. Anyways, if your craving Indian food and your in the area, "India Foodie" is the place! 5stars for the food and 4stars...
Read moreThe worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. We ordered take out and they got our order completely wrong. They didn’t even give us the butter chicken we ordered and then when we called them to let them know they gave us the wrong items they didn’t even apologize and started arguing saying we can come back and get the butter chicken when we live 30 mins away. We told them we are not driving 1 hour round trip because they got our order wrong. They argued about giving us a refund as well and told us they will call back in 20 minutes to refund us. When they called back they continued to blame us and not apologize for their mistakes on our order. This is also not the first time they got our order wrong either. They are so cocky and were arguing the entire time I have never been to an Indian restaurant where they have argued with customers and not owned up to their mistakes and we had to argue to even get a refund on one item. I will never eat there again and will definitely tell all my friends and family...
