I saw this place and one day told my wife we should try it. Here is my thoughts.
It doesn't look like much from outside. But inside I walked into this busy but sparkling clean, sweet little place. Nothing fancy but pleasant, the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to eat there instead of ordering take out.
Despite the crowd there was no chaos. The man and women working the counter were relaxed, in thier element. They skillfully took my order making sure they got it right. I waited about ten minutes and it was ready. I asked how much (dinner for 4 people with 2 drinks) and it was only about $50! Heck of a deal.
I have to say they were so nice and friendly. And they checked the order again before handing it to me. But how did it taste?
Well, home I go. Two adults, two teenagers. My wife grew up around good Mexican food in the city. My daughters a foodie. My son is picky. And I have tried a lot of stuff and I know what I like. Tough critics, but we are fair.
First, wonderful portion sizes for the money. I ordered a chimichanga because that's a pretty standard item. It was HUGE! Lots of food for everyone.
My chimichanga was accompanied by a sauce I have never seen or tasted before. My wife took a little taste and her eyes flew open in delight. She said "you have to try this, I've never tasted anything like it before." I did and it was amazing. Unique. Savory and sweet but just fantastic. Everyone began talking about how fantastic the food is.
My impression of the food was that I was eating something delicious made with attention to detail and a love of food and respect for the customers. To take ordinary food and make it taste that good. Wow.
Everyone was delighted.
And then these chips, delicious. Fresh. But the salsa that came with it, magnificent! I can't even describe it. I wanted to lick my plate clean. My wife had the same reaction.
I feel like I ate a meal prepared by friends. What a wonderful suprise. I want to tell them thank you.
I highly recommend you give them a try and see if you agree with me. ...
Read moreFood was pretty good, nothing you haven't had before at every other place just like this. I do need to address one thing though... We ordered based on their website menu/pricing and we ended up being charged an extra $12.50 on top of that pricing. No matter how we added it up (yes we even added 10% tax) we could not account for an extra $12.50 more than what we ordered. This leads me to believe their web menu pricing isn't accurate or is slightly misleading - so just go in eyes wide open and make sure the price is what you expected. Otherwise, while good, it's not on the level of something you're going to crave or remember in a couple days. Flavors were solid, I would say the rice and beans were a bit flat and needed a pinch more salt. Tacos were slightly dry and overcooked, but the flavors were there. Enchiladas were relatively on point and the Chiles Relleños was also pretty good. All in all I'd give this place a solid 3.5. Since I can't do that, and factoring in the pricing issue, I landed on a 3. We will probably be back, maybe, but will continue to look for better...
Read moreToday was my first time stopping in. I love a good horchata and I feel like not many people review that. Horchata tastes great, properly sweetened and not too strong in other ingredients. It is not as creamy as some I have had before however, I am putting it in my top 5 horchata’s. First time in like I said, I believe I chatted with the owner, super friendly, very hospitable, chatted with me like I was a regular for the past 10 years. Already love the place and I haven’t tried the food yet. Will definitely be going back soon to try the food though. I.e. I only stopped in for...
