The connecting bridge from West Virginia into Maryland over where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet is a short but a nice aspect to the Harpers Ferry experience. Enjoyable views of the water, greenery, and mountains are present. As a path of no more than 500 feet, it is an ideal way to access to towpath or trailhead to Maryland Heights. However, it should be known that a metal staircase is present on the Maryland side which may be problematic for bikers or those with baby strollers.

What an amazing history and view. Good place hike trekking and sightseeing. The place is comparable to postcard during Fall. They have a parking place for the main entrance which you pay $20 unlimited and a free bus going to the main location or hike if you don’t wanna take a bus. Bus schedules every hour, and last trip would be 1730H. A must place to visit.

Hiked 10 miles starting in Harper's Ferry to Maryland, then back again. It was beautiful and peaceful experience. This was my first time on the AT. Next stop is Maryland to Pennsylvania. Also The bike riders on the trail were super courteous as well. Almost everyone signaled there passing which is greatly appreciated.
