Lovely historic park. Well preserved and presented. Enjoyed the history and presence of the location. Parking and shuttle from the park service lot is fast and efficient. Several interesting exhibits are in good condition scattered across several different historical buildings so a small amount of walking is needed but well worth the effort. Hand carved steps in the Rick go up to Thomas Jefferson rock and overlook. Appalachian trail goes right through town so pay attention to hikers coming and going.

this review is for the (horrible) Harpers Ferry NPS visitor center (and not for the bus nor the town of Harpers Ferry). The NPS visitor center is just a glorified parking lot and bus stop staffed by rangers whose only action was to hand out a brochure. My questions were not answered rather they directed me to just take the bus. The building provided no history, no exhibits, and no information to guide our tour of the town/park. I gave the visitor center one star because there were restrooms and the bus was an efficient way to get to the town/park. Once we were dropped off in town we had no idea where to go next and which things to do or see. The brochure was not clear about which areas were for history buffs vs hikers vs shoppers, and we apparently missed seeing some of the most educational and fun parts. As we were leaving the NPS Visitor Center we happened upon the 'Welcome to WV visitor center' across the highway from the NPS visitor center and it was much more helpful in orienting us to the history and significance of...

SO much American history here & now. Three hiking trails & 2 mighty rivers converge. Trains through mountain tunnels. Lewis & Clark & John Brown began & changed the country from here. Antietam is nearby, along with beautiful...
