If I could give zero stars, I would. This âgift shopâ is less a store and more a punishment chamber.
Everything looked super cheap like the kind of junk youâd win from a claw machine.. but somehow was marked up like it was fine art.
Then there was the crypt keeper running the counter. She was so rude I half-expected her to hiss at me and crawl back into a sarcophagus. She didnât greet me, didnât help me, just stared at me like I was stealing the oxygen she so desperately needed.
The stench of mildew was overwhelming to say the least. Itâs like the entire place is sponsored by mold. Honestly, it smelled like Noahâs Ark after the flood, but before the clean-up.
Itâs so understaffed that the decrepit crypt keeper was shuffling between this dump and their candy shop next door. Maybe that explains the attitudeâif I had to run between two dying businesses, Iâd be miserable too.
This isnât a gift shop, itâs a curse shop. The only thing youâll take home from here is buyerâs remorse and possibly a lung infection. Save your money, your nose, and your dignity, and donât go...
Read moreCool little kite shop, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. There is something here for everyone. Cool toys for younger kids, souvenirs, candy, and of course the kites! There are some really cool single lines, and a decent selection of two line stunt kites, from beginner to advanced. The selection on the website is only a fraction of what they offer in store; they also have two and quad line stunt and power kites, including Revolution kites. I have purchased all my kites and supplies from Dr. Gravity's, including a Revolution Shockwave and an HQ Maestro. If you want to start looking into stunt kites, and want someone to talk to and give you some recommendations, talk to Peter (there are two Peters. One is the owner) Both are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and love to talk about kites. Keep in mind, it is a small, busy little store, so the employees can be pulled in a bunch of directions at once. But they care about wanting to keep repeat customers. If you are in the Harwich Port area, stop by, even if only to browse. Great shop with...
Read moreNostalgic review here. The Doc is not in the office anymore! My family has been coming to Harwich each summer for decades. We have fond memories of this store, across multiple generations. The original owner, the real Dr. Gravity, was zany and passionate about kites. He'd go out of his way to set customers up with the right kite for their needs and level of experience. Since he retired and sold the business, the store has lost its heart and soul. It is not a kite store, with a bunch of other cool stuff, anymore. Now it is an overpriced toy store with just a few kites. The new owner, who I met a couple summers ago, is nice but is first and foremost a business man (owns the Duck store in Chatham and dozens of other properties on the Cape). The passion for the products and customer experience is not there. I long for the days when this was a kite store, run and cared for by the real Dr. Gravity. His absence...
