Nice selection of shops and muggers. Security very poor to non existent. There have been folks mugged, robbed and worse in the near vicinity or in the parking at night. Be careful.
Thank you for the reply and your initiatives. Sadly, the roving officer is rarely seen and cannot do anything but stay in a safe area and dial 911. To emphasize the point I haven't seen your unarmed and very casual looking security for months. I am a former LEO, and have lived here for 7 years, and visited the plaza for the same period. In my neighborhood, the Plaza has a horrible reputation for danger. A friend of mine was mugged just off the property boundary three weeks ago. She didn't bother reporting it. Many in my neighborhood have reported muggings on Nextdoor. Many don't bother with reporting it to HPD, regardless of people like I trying to get them to. They feel it isn't worth their time.
I was there a week ago and watched as a WFA and WMA cased cars. I scared them off when I got out of my vehicle and they noticed I was armed.
You really require interventionist security that engages with customers, those loitering, and thus creates a prevention atmosphere. Considering the violence issues in that area of Boulder, and the homeless issues, and the danger at night, visible and engaged is outstanding. This will not occur while your security is based on lowest price for simply a rarely seen, badly worn uniform. It is a shame, as there is so much business potential on that block, and some great shops. I hope you...
Read moreLake Mead Gateway Plaza is basically a small strip mall that consists of small businesses. The two stores there with name recognition are Albertsons grocery store and Cappriotti's sandwich shop. The other stores consist of a smoke shop, hair salon, dry cleaners and last but not least a Chinese restaurant also with name recognition ( China A-go-go). All this is located in the NE to SE portion of the lot. In the SW to Western portion there is a Marco's Pizza and Check City both have name recognition. Then you have the Chicken Shack and to round out this portion of the stores in the SW to Western portion is a temporary unit only open during tax season. That's my favorite joint. The impeccable H & R Block. Get your rapid refund, go buy some pizza next door, hit the smoke shop and then head over to Albertson and feed their slot machines. Oh Don't let me forget to warn you. Those slot machines just love to eat at that Albertsons so save bus fare...
Read moreSmith is a great grocery store. Their store brands AKA Kroger are just as good as the national brands. Produce is always fresh. If you're there at the right time, the marked down area of bakery soon to expire products, is where you can score a couple of good deals. They also have an area at the end of an aisle that you can score on items like a crushed cereal box or a dented can etc. Large parking lot but you still have to juggle for a space sometimes. Personnel is always friendly and go out of their way...
