I want to say it's not okay, this theater, that is. But, I like their pricing policy and I like watching big screen productions on a theater screen. Why do I dislike the Holland 8? First, it is dirty from the first step you take to enter the theater. What is that brown, tobacco looking crude on the back side of the door release mechanisms on the front door? There are not a lot of people attending the matinees, so I have pretty much choice of seats, but I notice the choice seats (2/3 from the front and center) are disgustingly filthy. Additionally, the plastic arm rests come off if you touch them incorrectly. Add to that, the most sought after seats have seen their days when it comes to foam cushioning.
The good news is that all of these are easily fixable! Someone can clean in places management doesn't check (brown tobacco stained doors). The less used seats can be exchanged for the more used seats. The used seats though past their cushion prime can be cleaned with a reputable cleaning firm.
Oh, from a movie enthusiast's perspective, don't let great movies escape your venue. I was sadly disappointed you did not play, "Bridge of Spies" and "Steve Jobs" recently. I'll catch them on dvd, but I would have enjoyed them more on your good functioning screens and sound system.
OK, this is an update, 8/12/16. I went to a 1:00 pm showing of "Pete's Dragon" and I had to leave. Why, you might ask. It was one of the large auditoriums. It was 1/3 full. The amount of human humidity in the room was suffocating. The arm rests on the theater chairs were damp. I will continue to use this obviously cheap large screen venue, but I will plan to do so on largely underpopulated days. I truly hope AMC, which has recently become the single largest theater chain in the country, will do something about the fallen state of...
Read moreWe won't be returning!!! The air conditioning in a couple of the theaters wasnt working. Air conditioning breaks, I understand, but inform us. However, there were no indications of that until we had our popcorn, and drinks and took a seat. No warnings, signs, etc. AMC, there are people who cannot tolerate heat, like myself, especially when medical conditions are exacerbated because of it. It was 92 out at 7pm and almost as warm inside! Did Brad, the manager care? Nope. He never even apologized which is something I pointed out to him. He stated he's had to issue refunds all day long. Why not warn people? Nope. Let's keep people coming in, let them buy food and drinks, issue refunds, having people angry, but worst of all, put people at risk. Makes no sense. Apparently, this air problem had been going on for at least a few days, a week according to the concession stand employees, but only a few days according to Brad. Who knows, but the theater was aware of the problem well in advance of tonight no matter whom you choose to believe. With theater revenues down, I'd think the company would do everything possible to keep customers, not drive them away. (Like putting up a sign saying that the air is broken in these particular theater rooms). Makes absolutely no sense. Never again. There are other theaters in the area that care about the well being and comfort of their customers. Apparently, AMC theaters could care less as I was told that they are not allowed to let patrons know. I was told the only time people are informed of an issue is if the projector is broken. Never again. There are too many other options: A different theater chain, rent on demand or a streaming service. AMC, you...
Read moreI attended an afternoon showing on 8-18-14. First, the pluses. The price for an afternoon ticket was very reasonable and the cheapest around for that time of day. The staff member that served us was very friendly and helpful, despite being there all by herself (at least in the public front). The movie itself played fine on the big screen, no sound problems or other issues. Unfortunately, there were a few big negatives. First, the concessions were not worth the money I paid for them. The popcorn was just okay...I've had better, but I've also had worse. The pop, though, just did not taste right. At first I thought it was just the one flavor I had (diet), so I went back and asked for regular instead. The staff member readily exchanged my drink with no hassle, but the regular wasn't much of an improvement. I wanted to get back to my movie, though, and not give the girl behind the counter any more grief, so I accepted the drink. I figured maybe it was just me, but after talking to my brother (who was also in attendance) I discovered his flavor was "off" as well. The other negative was the smell in theater 8. It hits you as soon as you enter; it was a like a musty, bad BO kind of smell. Since there was only one other patron there, it was definitely the room itself. Thankfully we got used to it pretty quickly and it failed to bother us after a...
