On 6/19, my partner and I saw Inside Out 2 at 1:40 pm. To preface, I used to work at a GQT theater as a teenager/young adult and was a shift manager, so I know how GQT theaters were run, and what we experienced was unacceptable. We also knew it was a kids movie, and there would be young kids there being young kids, and did not care about how kids acted in a theater.
We bought our tickets online and have a golden bucket, so we were going up to buy our refill, drinks, and candy with a GQT gift card. As we are checking out, the cashier tells us our gift card (that is brand new) is not working because they have a new system and to try again next time we come. That took me off guard a little, but chalked in up to new staff. We paid and went into the theater.
The seats of this theater are DISGUSTING, like peeling and off and discolored. Throughout the movie I kept getting the ick of the chair touching my arms and legs. However, most of the movie went well. There was a family sitting near us and their kids were playing but like I said, we didn't really mind and we weren't going to cause a big deal over it. That is until the parent gave their child their phone, brightness fully up and volume on to watch videos and play games. I was irritated, but I know from my past GQT theaters have their ushers do checks in the theaters every 15-30 minutes, so while this is annoying, I'm going to continue watching.
No one ever came into the movie theater to do a check. For the last hour of the film, the parent had their child play games and watch videos with sound on. I am a firm believer in I paid for my movie, and it is not my job to go and tell others how to do their jobs, so I did stay and continue watching trying to ignore the disturbance nearby. Like I said, NOT MY JOB, it is theirs to stop this.
Finally, at the end of the movie, we were told there would be a end credit scene, so my partner and I stayed to watch. Everyone else left, and I knew my from training that ushers should either wait for everyone to be out or start in the back and work towards the front (we were 3 rows from the front of the screen in a bigger theater, so they had plenty of other areas to clean). But the two ushers that came in stood directly behind us, not cleaning, but talking about us, how we were still there and how annoying it is when people stay. So we left.
I would have told the manager on my way out, but he was working with customers in the lobby. I am a faithful GQT movie goer, I loved working their and typically love my experiences there. But this trip to Holland 7 really disappointed us and I don't see us returning to this theater anytime soon. I am also frustrated with GQT because I did write them and was told I'd hear from them and I'm...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI keep telling all of my friends that this is the worst theater to go to but they don't listen. Every time I go there are teenage kids, 12 and 8 year old's running around, yelling, screaming and making a huge scene. Not even 20 minutes ago my fiancee and I just left from watching The Boy. I advised her like I do every time someone tries to talk me into attending a movie at this theater, that it wouldn't be worth it because there are always kids running the place with zero adherence to the rules. She didn't want to listen so we ended up going, because she always gets what she wants. We sat down and had what sounded like 6-10 year old children throwing coins all over. I held my tongue as they came rolling, bouncing and flying all around us. Did their parents or the management say or do anything? Nope! Not at all. Then as the movie was already 5 minutes underway an ENTIRE group of immature teens piled in a row. All of the girls were on their phones and the boys wouldn't stop talking to each other. They had a pretty successful Chinese Fire Drill, I'll give them that! Because they all got up and moved around to sit next to a different girl at least once or twice. I'll never understand why people let their kids run around and do whatever they want. This was ridiculous and the fourth time this has ever happened at this theater (all of which the exact same thing has happened). The last time I came to this theater was to watch Insidious 2. Teenage girls were screaming at every turn of the camera angle for attention from their boyfriends, feeding off of each other. I was embarrassed for all of them. They ruined the first 10 min of the movie so badly that I ended up leaving with my friends to catch the same movie at the Star AMC theater on the north side. It's a little further of a drive but way worth the hassle of chancing not being able to enjoy 10 minutes, let alone a whole movie. Please, I'm begging you, if you want to enjoy a movie and not be bothered by teens with obnoxious manners and pathetic attempts at peacocking just to end up on 16 an pregnant, go to the Star Theater. This place isn't just a dump but definitely not worth the $40 I dropped for the tickets, food and drinks. I, nor any of my friends or family will ever be attending a movie at this teenage hot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Saturday June 8th, my sweet parents went to The Goodrich Quality Theaters in Holland, Michigan with my niece and two nephews they were babysitting for the weekend. Upon purchasing their tickets, the front desk cashier told my dad the theaters were assigned seating only so they had to pick their seats at the time of purchase. My parents, who are not tech savvy at all, you all know this; explained to the attendant that they were from a different state, had never been in this theater, and needed help choosing seats. My dad asked if the staff would help them find their seats and was told no.
After purchasing their popcorn and drinks, my parents took the kids into the theater, where the previews had already started and were unable to read the seat numbers in the dark. So they chose open seats and got settled in. SEVERAL minutes later, after the movie had already started, my dad, a senior citizen, who was on the aisle was approached by three ācollege-ageā girls said that my parents and the kids were in their seats. They demanded my parents move out of their seats. My dad refused. The girls went at got a āmanagerā who also my parents and the kids āmove out of these ladiesā seats.ā My dad and my mom, also a senior (with a full head of gray hair to prove it) also refused. There were plenty of other open seats in this theater. The manager then told my parents that not only were they going to move, they were going to leave the theater. My parents refused. The manager then stated that if my parents didnāt leave they were GOING TO CALL THE POLICE to have them excorted off the premises or arrested. Threatened with the police, my parents and niece and nephew were obviously scared and my parents said fine they would leave and asked the children to pick up their things. Then another manager finally came in and said that no my parents didnāt have to leave, my parents and the kids all shuffled all their snacks and drinks to another theater while the 3 college-girls and managers watched (and laughed.) After the movie, the managers were standing by the exits and as my parents left with their grandkids explained to the staff that they didnāt understand the seat assignment rule. My mom said all of the managers just smiled at them (& not in a nice way) and kept repeating āits...
