Needed a transportation for an event. Renting a car seem to be the easiest option for us. The rental car company was in our hotel lobby. How convenient. Rental cost was a bit steep at $77 plus taxes and fees brought it to $92. That's WITHOUT their insurance, which I passed on because of price. I booked in the afternoon, because I needed the car early in the morning before they opened. They gave me a Hyundai Elantra with over 90,000 mi on it and lots of cosmetic damage minor dings and dents in the doors scrapes on the bumpers front and back. I even mentioned specifically how bad the back bumper looked since that was the first thing I saw on the car when they given it to me. The agent told me all the damages had been documented on video that I could take my own video if I wanted, but it wasn't necessary. This was my mistake. I parked the car in the garage of the hotel and early. The next morning we went to our event and back round trip was less than 25 mi and I return the car before noon. There were no incidences and I never parked anywhere near other cars. Upon return the agent I gave the keys to examined the car for damage quite thoroughly then approached me because the license plate frame was broken. She was insistent that I needed to make a claim for a broken license plate frame and I explained to her it was like that when I got it . The bumper's been scratched and scuffed and she tells me it's not about the bumper. It's about the license plate being damaged as well as the frame and I said. Are you kidding me? I told her I'm not making an insurance claim for a license plate frame. It wasn't even a specialized decorative plane. It was one advertising a business like car dealerships put on the cars. Then she claimed I would have to pay for all the damages on the license plate frame, the license plate and the bumper. This is when I got mad because I specifically spoke to the agent the day before about how the car was damaged on the bumper specifically. Then she proceeds to tell me I have to pay $1,000 for their deductible for their insurance for repairs. After some back and forth, we learned that the last video of damages on this car was filmed June 6th. We rented the car on June 23rd. The car had been rented more than once before we got it on the 23rd. They refuse to tell us how many times it had been rented and what the last film of the car actually look like. The girl claim she could not access the video. My husband proceeded to tell her that if this was the case that we would call the police file a report and get our lawyers involved. Then he explained the procedures that would be involved as in, the car would be impounded, subpoenas for all the rental records fon this car & possibly the business being filed and the time involved for investigation. She was speaking with her boss on the phone and they finally agreed to drop the claim to and let us go. Long story short, either pay their overpriced insurance, take your own very detailed video before renting any car, or better yet, rent from...
Read moreMy friend and I rented a compact car. I have auto collision insurance with my credit card, so we chose to opt out of the insurance they offered. All car companies do this and you can refuse. The car was the silver Kia, which is pictured and talked about in other reviews. It definitely had lots of scuff and scratch marks. After reading some of the negative reviews, I was meticulous in filming and taking photos of every single one. I saw one review about getting a random charge after leaving for damages, so I waited. It’s been more than a week and none of that!
My friend and I just need a car to get from point A to point B and this car did just did that for us! It had Apple CarPlay, which was really nice too. I thought the car was pretty clean on the inside. The check in and check out process was smooth.
They also offer free parking if you book multiple days. They have a designated spot to park in front of the hotel, then you walk inside and drop off the keys and pick it up the next day. The first day, we waited probably 25 minutes for the car. But the following days, the wait was minimal like 5-10 minutes. So if you have anything with a time constraint, just keep that in mind.
The only con for us with the 9 pm “curfew.” I’ve looked at other car rental companies and this time seems common so can’t complain too much. We had a luau in Waimea Valley that ended at 8, so we had to buy overnight parking elsewhere (on the SpotHero app… or you can also park at the zoo with metered parking and extend up to 16...
Read moreI have to say that I was afraid to rent a car at the first since I always been renting cars with Turo but definitely this was a great experience starting with the easy reservation online and yes u don’t have to enter any card while u doing this
Second thing was the beautiful Estefania she was so helpful really professional no words to describe how good and confident she make during the process this was our first time visiting Hawaii and definitely everything makes a beautiful experience even just to rent a car
Third thing was another beautiful lady Paloma in my time to return the car she took care of me it was easy process she check the car and also she ask me if the car needs to be checked or if anything fails so they can take care with maintenance and this part I like it too because it says a lot about how much they care for the costumers they have good prices but also don’t forget u need to pay for insurance after the regular price I found it was a bit high but anyway for my next visit I know where to go
Also take note that probably you go in one location and they may gonna send you to a different places to pick the car which is not far from another and is easy to find so give them a chance if you need to...
