Items marked down to $2.00 for clearance in a shopping cart looked like a good deal. A handwritten “$2.00” was on a small white paper sticker that partially covered.the bar code. However the scanner at the cash register did NOT read the handwritten clearance price so instead of 2 items for $2.00 each I discovered later at home I was charged $5.79 and $3.59 plus tax so I was overcharged around $5.73. This is another reminder to check your receipt for every item BEFORE you leave the store’s parking lot.
Follow-up on my return trip on Saturday morning at 10:30am, June 28, 2025:
The Store director, Ma Crisel Yamane took care of it cheerfully and immediately. She’s the best! I will continue to be a lifelong customer. After taking care of my problem, Joseph Pua at the hot food counter took my order for 4 hot meals even though it was 10 minutes before opening and then Robert cheerfully gave me 4 cold Pepsi’s he was just bringing from the back to re-stock the front. Pam and Dave checked me out with both being fast, cheerful and very professional as everyone usually is. I really like shopping at Times Supermarket in the Kaimuki Shopping Center. It is No Ka Oi, the very best. Kudos to everyone!
Their hot food counter meals are awesome. With a free can of cold soda and with the portions big enough for 2 meals, it costs only $5.50 per meal. For example, if the meal is $12, subtract $1 for the free soda making it $11, divided by 2 meals equals $5.50 per meal. Where can you buy a delicious, nutritious, tasty, fresh, hot meal for $5.50? Nowhere. It’s always a good time to shop at Times Kaimuki. They’re...
Read moreI knew exactly what I needed before I came here so it wasn't much of a "browse and compare prices" type of outing.
I only had to ask a clerk one question about the general location an item I needed. He gave me an aisle number and where specifically on the shelf to look. He gave me more information than I needed which sometimes can be a hassle because of how long it takes for them to get it out of their mouth. Thankfully, his information was relevant, concise, and perfectly accurate. It made my day slightly easier, a tiny bit more efficient, but most importantly it cheered me up to see someone do their job to the best of their ability (not for attention, a pay raise, or brownie points), simply because they take pride in their work and always give it 100 percent, just based on the principle of it.
Salute to that young man! I hope one of his bosses recognizes his value and work ethic and promotes him to a position where he can be of even more value. If not, the universe usually has it's ways of making sure some doors of opportunity open up in...
Read moreI don't usually post bad reviews but, I was very upset at the rude deli counter man. I was extremely nice & it wasn't a bad question. I was looking forward to coming there for the Friday Hawaiian plate lunch special. I asked him about the kalua pig plate lunch. His rude answer really put me off ever going back to getting a plate lunch from that place! After he wrapped up my food in saran wrap, I wasn't even hungry, it upset me that much. I usually brush off stuff like that but it just put me off. The food wasn't that great anyway. I could have just gotten the same thing from the grocery store. And it would have been cheaper & a bigger quantity, no snark. Considering all of the local restaurants in the vicinity, the hospitality industry needs to do better. Auwe. Other than that incident, the grocery store is nice, they have frozen unagi that is pretty good & at a good price point. And the cashiers are always pleasant. It's what saved this grocery store from getting 2 stars. I gave them the extra star for the...
