So this is full time local Hawaii style plate lunch vibes. So if you don’t like touristy food that has zero pretension and won’t cost you $24 bucks a plate and want to eat Hawaiian local style then St Louis drive in could be for you? As for locals in the know then this place offers guaranteed excellent plate lunch at affordable prices. With daily specials you’re likely to feel you hit the plate lunch lottery everyday. What ai got today is the Monday special of roast pork with gravy. Make sure you ask for gravy all over because they can be Pākē with the gravy. I do enjoy their Mac salad which I add extra black pepper and Tabasco (always). IFYKYK. I also got the fresh Mahi mahi plate lunch which to me was the better of the two plates. Don’t get me wrong the roast pork is good. But if I didn’t order the Mahi plate I would definitely would have food regret. One thing I’m learning is St Louis Drive inn may does fresh seafood plate lunches and Japanese plate lunches and bentos exceptionally well. You can’t go wrong with their Japanese seafood plate lunch. They are like punch-you-in-Da-face-REAL-GOOD! Their Mahi Mahi plate was soooooooooo Delicious! Like I was trying to go between both plates but got stuck and finished the Mahi Mahi plate lunch and almost for got about the roast pork plate. My recommendation is eat that seafood plate right at one of their outside tables when it’s hot Because it’s so Freaking Delicious. My already favorite is the Super Japanese seafood plate lunch but my second is the Mahi Mahi and this is only 3rd time here. So if you want less go Subway across the street. But if you want to feel like the prettiest plate lunch person then go St...
Read moreHole in the wall, typical greasy place. Exactly what you would expect. Good for breakfast, maybe. I wouldn't expect to have a place like this in Oahu that has racist undertones. At first I thought I was imagining it. However, I didn't order my breakfast exactly how they serve it. But it came exactly as they wanted it not me. A nice lady taking the order kind of ignored me. While waiting for my order I went next door to their delicatessen lol. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. But I was in the delicatessen 5 ft away. So I couldn't hear my name when it was called. There was one person ahead of in the delicatessen. But it was taking forever just the place in order. So I go outside walk 5 ft looking to see if my order at the diner is ready. Aside there's no place to sit no place to eat. The best you're going to get is the go take the cardboard box and sit in your car. Years ago they actually had stuff Now they have nothing. And the prices are double if not triple. As I try to see where my order is, a local man standing in front of the pick up window. He say they put your order aside. This about 10am. And the way he said was not very nice. The woman behind the counter at the same basic attitude. I'm Caucasian they're not they don't want you here. I noticed I was the only Caucasian ordering at the diner. I've been going to his diner since 2004. Not often but It used to be a good place to go instead of McDonald's. No longer, McDonald's is across Waialae Ave about 2 short blocks down the street. At McDonald's is no price. But they're actually getting a better value than the St...
Read moreMy dad use to bring us here when we were younger. So when my bf said he wanted Israeli food from Shaloha across the street, I decided to come here instead. Idk if the aunty behind the counter was having a bad day or what but she was incredibly rude. There’s 2 windows and the uncle in front of me asked “is this window taking phone orders?” And she sassily responded back “I’m taking whatever orders!” After I finished placing my order with her my bf texted saying he wanted a drink. I asked her if I could add on a drink. She blinked and didn’t respond. I assumed she didn’t hear me so I asked again if I could add on a drink. She frantically waved her hands in the air and said “ya what?!” After she took my payment she said she’d call my order out when it was ready. Again, there’s 2 windows and people waiting around the area. I heard 1 item from my order being called but the aunty from the other window was also handing out food so I thought she had called it out. As I walked closer to the register, she bends down to eye level, sassily and loudly repeats my order and points at it all while giving me stink eye. The food was good but after the service I experienced, it’s not worth it...
