This is a really well done park. There are patged bike / running paths, a skate park, playground, visitor center and shaded pavilion with six picnic tables. The view of the city is excellent and the natural trees, plants and bushes make for a very aesthetically pleasing experience. I am really glad that I found this place. The facilities are much better than the usual and the infrastructure in general far exceeded my expectations. The playground is wheel chair accessible and though some of it was closed off (i.e. the slide) when we visited it still had so much to offer. The designers chose natural elements and it turned out very nice. It instantly became one of my top 3 favorite outdoor places in Houston.

Great park in the city! Bike paths, hiking, birds, fishing, snakes, and nature. A super playground for the kids. Very safe area. Short walk to see the Waugh bridge bats at dusk. Trash cans all around. Limited parking though. You wouldn't know by looking, but Buffalo Bayou is one of the best rivers in Houston to go fishing. Carp, Catfish, bass, and alligator gar. I got a smaller one at 5' 3"s.

I think Houston does a great job of creating escapes from the chaos of this city right in the middle of the city. My girls loved playing in the sand as there are not many opportunities to do that around here.

I don't know who wrote all these other reviews, probably someone who hasn't been anywhere else.

This whole place is a dump.

Parking is about 25 cars on the side of the "kids playground", otherwise you can park on the street and get a ticket b/c or all the no parking signs everywhere that everyone ignores. When we were leaving we saw tickets being given out by a gov worker driving his car from one car to the next, writing tickets to everyone.

Bathrooms are filthy. No toilet paper, and tampons and used pads and water everywhere on the floor. Toilets are dirty and not flushed (were there 4 hours before park closure, you would think there would be someone who would walk thru and make sure it's decent).

Kids playground is not a playground. It's not kids friendly, there is one slide which is fine but the kid ends up in the "sand" pit which is basically dirt and pieces of glass.

To get back up to the slide, there are these sketchy "steps" made of tree trunks half of which are rotten and the only thing you have to hold on to are these ropes attached to questionable posts.

There is also these colorful metal tubes there are different height which do nothing, just installed to give the place some color? I don't know. In the pic looks cool.

The walkway is dangerous because the sides are lacking any kind of railings so your kids can just tumble down to the lower level and die on the way down b/c the levels are pretty high up from each other and the hills are really steep.

The only good thing about the place is there are these slippery rocks for kids to slice their knees on when they fall on them because of the little stream that runs thru these rocks, activated by someone turning the wheel.

But yes, it was a plus that I could wash my kids feet in the little stream before getting them...
