Went to this bar a few weeks ago and it was packed to the BRIM! The entrance fee is $20 and we got a section with two bottles. We couldn't enter until the full party was there which is dumb considering not all friends arrive at the same time and again we bought a section. The music was good but what's the point of having good music if you are shoulder to shoulder with strangers on the floor. So you end up having to dance in your seat. It took 35 minutes to go to the women's restroom and you can't go to the men's restroom if you really have to go because they won't let you in. There were 3 stalls open for the 300 or more people that were there. The 3rd roof floor was closed. This was the first time going and probably one of my last. Someone ordered food and it did come more quickly than we expected, about 20 minutes. This was at 12:30 am. We ended up running out of juice for the drinks and we had to go buy more ourselves which also took another 30 minutes and the bottle girls never came back the whole night. The bottles girls dropped off the bottles within 20 minutes of being there so...
Read moreI decided to enjoy a lovely evening with my business partner at this establishment. When we arrived the lady at the door was not asking anyone for their ID’s even though the ladies in front of us were clearly underage. Both of us ordered a double tequila sour, no specification on the type of tequila, and we were given our drinks and promptly finished them. I went up to close my tab and was informed my total for the two drinks my colleague and I purchased costed an outstanding 51 dollars. Confused, my friend questioned how much a double shot mixed drink is and the bartender responded “11 dollars.” When I asked why we were charged twice that she said it was because we had specifically asked for Don Julio. We asked for no such thing. After telling them we did not specify a type of tequila to which the bartender responded “we only have premium,” they offered us two drinks “on the house?” Implying that they know they were ripping us off but were trying to make up for it. Long story short, will never be coming here again and don’t recommend anyone else to go here either. Awful...
Read moreThe New Standard Bar is the place to be. I remember having a lot of fun at the old standard bar and the environment was always good, but this New Standard Bar is on Steroids in every level, service is amazing, the cocktails, the bartenders, security, barbacks, management and owners are very welcoming and are committed to give you the best Latin nightlife experience in the city of Houston. Did I mentioned the HUGE rooftop with an amazing view to the downtown buildings!! 😁😁
The music is definitely a vibe, Djs know how to get the party going. The new Standard is one entrance, 3 different parties as it has a dj inside one in the patio area and one in la terraza (Roof top) in other words every where you walk in the establishment you will be partying for sure 🕺 💃
The food is very flavorful 🌮🍤🍝🌯🥪 and the bartenders will fix you some nice drinks at an affordable price. Also very important at this new location there’s a lot more parking space than the old one and that’s definitely a plus 💪🏻💪🏻
Hope my review is helpful...
