The interior is beautiful and stylish with tall ceilings and a beautiful bar. Albeit in a strange place next to the rooftop pool. There's some indoor seating and additional outdoor seating on the rooftop. There's a pretty view of the city up there, too.
The service was wonderful. Friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our server. We had her one evening and another morning and ate there twice. She did a great job and was friendly and never intrusive. That's a delicate balance. I got up to use the restroom and came back to a neatly folded towel. So classy. All the staff were friendly. From the hosts at the host stand to the bus boys.
The morning we ate there, there was a beautiful moth with dazzling colors just outside our window at our table. One of the servers was enjoying the beauty of creation and told us about it.
Okay, so why the low score? The food just wasn't that good. It wasn't bad. It was kind of bland. It missed the mark and took a dent out of my wallet. Double sad.
We went both times out of convenience, it wasn't like we had to try it. I got a steak with an au poivre sauce and duck fat fried French fries. It came with a salad, which was good. The steak was cooked nicely. The au poivre sauce was not my favorite, but I'm not sure it's even something that I'd like. The fries tasted alright for the first few bites, but in time had a weird after taste and they were a bit too indulgent, like cooked in grease but not hot enough or too long. They were crispish, but I had to break up every few fries with some bites of steak. The home made ketchup was great. It felt like the fries were the bottom of the barrel. I got a bunch of short ones, which maybe means they are made from real potato, but who likes short fries? My wife didn't like her meal much at all. Overall, it lacked seasoning. I forget what she had right now, but it wasn't memorable. She ordered fries and got the same bottom of the barrel scrap fries as I did. She didn't like hers much either. But she did enjoy my au poivre with her fries.
Overall, my wife was left unsatisfied by her meal and I wasn't really too impressed. I've had better cuts of steak for less. I've had the same cut of steak but it tasted better. So I don't know.
We finished our evening meal with a mango icy dessert. It was okay. Again, nothing to rave about.
The morning we got breakfast my wife and I both got chicken and waffles. The sourdough waffle was fluffy and delicious!!!! We loved it. But the chicken was overcooked (dark brown) and unseasoned. We caught a late lunch, maybe they'd turned off the frier.
All in all it seemed like an issue with seasoning and the frier just was never at thr right temp.
Service and atmosphere are great, but the food was disappointing. Not bad. ...
Read moreI have been here a few times already and whether it was in the middle of the day, evening or night, you get THE BEST views of the Houston skyline. I had seen several posts on Instagram and it was always somewhere we wanted to try so I am not sure what took us so long to get out there. We had a free evening with no dinner plans so my husband suggested we go there for dinner.
Last minute reservations so we had an inside table but we were by the window and still had beautiful views. The atmosphere is classy, yet still casual. You can dress up for a night on the town but not be embarrassed if you are still in your white tennies.
On our first evening, we had so much food that I basically took my whole entree home with me - there was just so much to try. We started out with cocktails and appetizers. We had the Chef's Selection Cheese & Charcuterie, the Ahi Tuna Tartare AND the Butterflied Head-On Gulf Shrimp. It is hard to pick a favorite because I really loved them all. The charcuterie had a great mix of different cheeses and meets. The Ahi Tuna was served with lettuce and I think fried rice paper. You could make it into a lettuce wrap or place the tuna on the fried rice paper, which was delicious. For our meal, my husband ordered the Rosewood Ranch Wagyu Smash Burger and I ordered the Redfish on the Half Shell. The Burger was great and the Garlic-Duck Fat Fries that came with it were totally addicting. Like I said, I took almost my whole entree home and we enjoyed a delicious meal the following day also!
On my most recent visit, my girlfriend and I were celebrating our birthdays. We started to sit outside but that was when the one little cold front rolled in so we were a bit chilly and moved inside. We were treated with champagne even before we told them it was our birthdays and then we were treated with a beautiful and delicious dessert. On this visit, we had the shrimp again and they definitely did not disappoint. This time, I ordered the Gulf Red Snapper Ceviche and my friend had the Rigatoni. Highly recommend both of them.
Every time I have been there, all of the staff from management to hostess, waiter and chef treated us with exceptional service. On our first visit, the sun was setting with the most gorgeous orange hues so I dragged my husband out to take photos. One of the ladies - I am not sure if she was a hostess or a waitress - came out to see if we would like her to take our photo for us. We didn't even have to ask.
This remains on our list of favorite places to go and to introduce to friends for the flavors and beauty of Houston. A special shout out to Chef Laz for the...
Read moreQuite possibly one of the worst dining experiences from start to finish.
Short version: -the outdoor fans were not working (it’s summer time in Houston and there were no tables or seating available inside despite a reservation) -for 4 people the appetizers (ceviche, tuna, and calamari) there was not enough of anything for more than 2 people to try. -They did not ask how we wanted the salmon cooked -the $22 burger was ok’ish at best -the hostess was rude, unfriendly, walked behind us and kept pointing everyone I stopped and asked what table until o told her to move to the front and lead us -they filled the sparkling water glasses of our friends with flat water -I ordered a cocktail before the main course and got it as I was finishing my main course (I should have sent it back at that point)
Long version: After driving roundabout, looking for a parking space, we finally found the valet. Reservation was for a party of 4. 2 of us showed up first. At the hostess stand the lady was on the phone. Never acknowledged us or said one moment. Ok. A minute or two later two more people came to the stand. Guess what, he nor she also did not acknowledge us. After a couple of minutes she said we will be right with you. Finally after 5 minutes we are asked how may we help you. Well, we have a reservation. They wouldn’t seat us. Ok, we aren’t a party of 12 but ok. The other couple arrives. The hostess then tells us. We are going to be sitting outside and there are no seats available inside. We all walked outside when she stands behind us and points and says ”your table is that way”. We stop at an empty table confused. She says that way and points. There is at this moment where I feel like I’m need to mentor her for and tell her. How about you get to the front and walk us to our table instead of pointing.
Waitress was kind with plenty of bussboys. Drinks took FOREVER. Runners made mistakes with drinks and filling orders.
Food wasn’t bad but certainly not good. Dishes are pricey given they aren’t good and quantity leaves more to be desired also.
Salmon had a mix with it that was nice and the vodka gin martini had a great taste.
I highly highly highly recommend never ever ever worry about coming here to eat, drink, or meet...
