That 1 time I spoke @The White Hall . the room was cozy and had an amazing view. however the lobby lounge and courtyard area is everything. Plus shopping is walking distance which was great for me getting my essentials while in town. #hotel #tiktokgostay

On a business trip. Arrived to the hotel from the outside of the hotel the outside aesthetics are pretty decent. There is a restaurant / bar entry door. There are ideally two entrance this to the hotel one where there is a valet entrance and the other is a regular street walk up/drive up entrance. There was no wait as I approach the check in desk. I am formed the representatives that I would be sharing a room for business and splitting the bill. We were told initially that we could submit partial payments between each individual and just pay incidentals upon check in. However, being that I was a first person to check in I was required to hold the entire room stay amount for the entire weekend on my credit card. That was not told to us initially, and normally that is not the practice of most hotels. I spoke with a manager and he still insisted that I take care of the bill and incidentals. I did not have time to go back and forth due to being tired for a long day of travel. So I resided to my room irritated . Ones entering the elevators everything is fine, when I arrived on the 5th floor the doors open and I immediately noticed that the hallway carpets are dirty. The furniture as the elevator opened, is old. So I already knew what was in store for the room . Once I entered the room. It appears clean nothing out of place. The beds were tightly made. Everything was in place for a convenient quick stay. However the room and the furniture was just old. The carpet is extremely dirty. The bathroom and the bathroom amenities are old. Old commode, the old stepping shower that's extremely high up, and extremely close to the toilet, it's hard to step up that high and get into the shower due to the toilet being right there. The step in tub with the sliding glass doors, also had the shampoo conditioner and body wash made into the fixture and in the shower . The furniture inside the room was extremely old, the light sockets were loose and and would not hold a plug securely. Which is very inconvenient when multiple phones have to be charged up as well as other items . It was extremely cold in the room, I called maintenance and maintenance came up and told me there is no heat in the hotel! I asked the question again and said I would like for you to turn up the heat, as it is very cold in here. He reiterated to me that there is no heat in the hotel and the thermostat did not work. It only worked for air conditioning. So he brought me a space heater to my room. I also have never heard of anything of the such, there is no heat in the entire hotel. Wow In a few of the pictures you can see the floorboard is separating from the wall. The paint is chipping in the bathroom on the door. There is a restaurant on the second floor and it was actually pretty decent. I got ice cream and cheesecake from there the bartender was very friendly. Some of the events in the room were pretty dirty they needed to be dusted off. The elevators ran extremely slow he could easily wait 5 to 7 minutes for an elevator ride. I was here for business so I probably would not stay here again for a leisure stay.

I came here because I deal with a severe case of driving phobia and was attending a event down the street at a local venue. Staying here would allow me to break up the driving and make it only a 3 minute trip to and from the venue.

Right off the bat checking in around 11:30 am was an incredibly warm and welcoming experience, from the valley greeting me to both of the agents at the front desk. I had worried there would be a cold reception from me calling the front desk earlier in the week, but fortunately in person it was all warmth and love.

I had passively mentioned I was in town for a early birthday girls night out to which one agent ran to the back to get a birthday card and write a beautiful birthday message and the other agent added 2 additional perks to the stay.

I was off to my room which I highly recommend you request 801 , no direct neighbors on either side of the walls!

My view was spectacular 😍 ✨️.

Only issue I had was the pull tab on the bathroom faucet was difficult to pull up or push down to switch from shower to bath and the reverse.

I took my 2 additional perks with me down to the in-house restaurant Edgar's Hermano, which for future visitors I advise making an immediate right at you enter to let someone know you'd love to dine in. I wasn't aware of that grab and go area until a guest and her children came in and I followed them after my brief wait by the host stand for a few minutes.

Once seated my server was amazing and I wish I had gotten her name, an older Hispanic woman with the most genuine and brilliant smile. she was so enthusiastic about the menu and asking my opinions to help me decided what to get out of all the amazing sounding options.

I settled on a burger with cheddar cheese and bacon added, and oh my gosh it was probably the best burger I have ever had. That says a lot considering I was a chef for over a decade and have my degree, am certified by the ACF, and was a chef instructor for almost 3 years!

I had two cocktails, "a rum with a view" and my warning is to quickly return to your ROOM with a view because they are potent cocktails and you may need a rest lol. Incredibly delicious and balanced in flavor, perfect for a stay-cation if you're local too!

I wad surprised with a chocolate cake dessert with a happy birthday tab in it which I took back to my room to enjoy while looking out onto downtown Houston which has a metropolitan beauty all its own.

The beds were so comfy, I would recommend if you like a firmer pillow to bring your own, but other than that perfect sleep.

I opted for the late check out the next day and enjoyed breakfast in bed by utilizing the room service option. Edgar's plate was the perfect breakfast with my glass of OJ.

I loved my stay so much I plan to return next year for my birthday again and just enjoy the in-house restaurant and outdoor patio bar without having to...

Having just returned from a weekend at The Whitehall Houston, I'm still smiling! This place absolutely exceeded my expectations and made my downtown Houston trip incredibly special.

Right from the moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt that warm, welcoming vibe. The staff were genuinely friendly and efficient – check-in was a breeze. I loved the classic elegance of the lobby; it felt sophisticated but never stuffy, a perfect blend of timeless Houston charm and modern comfort.

My room was fantastic! Spacious, incredibly clean, and so quiet considering we were right in the heart of downtown. The bed? Unbelievably comfortable – like sleeping on a cloud. After long days exploring, sinking into that bed was pure bliss. The bathroom was spotless and well-appointed with great amenities. And the view! Waking up to the downtown skyline each morning was a real treat.

Location-wise, you simply can't beat it. I walked everywhere! Discovery Green park was just steps away, perfect for a morning coffee stroll or an evening concert. I easily walked to great restaurants, the Theater District, and even Minute Maid Park felt like a short jaunt. Not needing a car constantly was a huge plus.

While I mostly explored the city, relaxing by the beautiful outdoor pool was a highlight one afternoon. It felt like a serene oasis tucked away from the urban energy, yet still part of it. I also enjoyed grabbing a drink at the bar – great atmosphere and excellent service.

What truly stood out was the overall feeling of being cared for. Every staff member I interacted with, from housekeeping to the concierge (who gave me a fantastic local coffee shop tip!), was attentive and seemed genuinely happy to help. It felt luxurious without being pretentious, polished yet personal.

Reasons I'd 100% stay again:

Unbeatable Downtown Location:

Walkability to major attractions is incredible.

Exceptional Comfort:

Those beds and the quiet rooms are a game-changer.

Warm, Attentive Service:

Staff truly make you feel valued.

Historic Charm Meets Modern Comfort:

The ambiance is unique and inviting.

That Rooftop Pool Oasis:

Perfect urban escape.

If you're looking for a truly excellent downtown Houston hotel experience that combines perfect location, outstanding comfort, and genuine hospitality, The Whitehall Houston is it. My stay was flawless from start to finish, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I felt pampered and perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the city. Already planning...
