I usually don't write reviews but I will this time since the manager was so rude and didn't have any compassion at all about a health concern. On Friday I went to the Herbert's @(dairy Ashford) location for lunch because we get takeout on Fridays. I went in and picked up two of the Friday special's which is stuffed fish( w crabmeat) over a bed of rice and Etoffee' with corn. After eating a few bites of my food I did notice the fish had a strong fishy odor but its fish so I thought it was fine and I might add I was hungry. However I did not finish it because of the taste and odor so I threw it away. I started feeling sick right away with tummy pain and diarrhea , proceeded to ask my co worker and she was feeling, an she had the same symptoms . We both left work early that day in hopes of it passing and feeling better. I called to report it , not in hopes to get a refund -so to speak- but an apology would have been suffice! He said the food is pre made (which i was already aware of) and that he sold about 50 plates that day and my complaint was his only one. And he made it clear it wasn't valid and he did'nt care not one concern! I will never EVER go here for lunch or food again and if you don't care about your customers well being health wise this says a lot about Herbert's as a company! These are the type of people that manage companies that they don't care for and he definitely showed no empathy. Please beware of...
Read moreFound Herbert's by accident. I love Cajun cuisine, so I gave it a shot got lunch today. When I first saw it, I thought it was a meat market-it's is (more on that later). It's clean, sunlit and sizable. There are two doors, one goes into the eatery and the other enters into the meat market. I spoke to the staff and asked was there a Mr. Herbert's. They said there wasn't, but they introduced me to the owner, Mr. Capp. He informed me the Herbert's didn't want to leave Louisiana, but he has the franchise rights in Texas. The meat section was full of meat (Mr. Capp said they have a processing area in the rear). My lunch mate wondered if they would process a deer if you brought one. Mr. Capped said if you bring a wild deer or wild hog, they will process it. The meat you bring must be skinned & quartered-if not, they'll decline. They didn't have standard prices nor do work by weight, but Mr. Capp said they'll discuss prices once your ready to go. THEY DONT PROCESS FARM PIGS.
Now to the eatery. Sadly, there's not a lot of seating area-that's the only drawback. There menu is section in appetizers, sandwiches, platters & special. I had boudin egg rolls & a boudin link. My lunch mate had a sandwich with tater-tots.
Herbert's has several locations on Houston. I will be back and I'll try to bring my friends from the boot when they...
Read moreJust left this place these ppl didn't even greet us as we walked in the store. I am the type of person if you don't greet me I turn around and walk out the door NEVER TO RETURN. If my son didn't want Jack Miller's BBQ Sauce and Boudin, I would have not spent not a single penny there. There was a bald head white man and an old white lady there. Never said one thing to my husband and I. My husband went to the bald headed man register. He stayed sitting in his chair behind the counter. Talking to the old lady, they started talking about Steve Harvey and Katt Williams. There was a Hispanic gentleman who checked us out at the man's register!! He was a very nice gentleman, Mark it down and take a mental note,The Savoys will never set foot back in any HEBERT'S SPECIALTY MEAT STORES and THAT'S ON GOD!! What I'm not going to do is spend MY MONEY any place where I am not greeted and feel unwelcomed. WE ARE FROM LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA. We know about HEBERT'S!! Our son lives in Corpus Christi that's the only reason we went there once again for our son!!!! Best stop has always been my stop and they will continue to receive...
