I can find some cheaper priced items here sometimes but for the most part they are overpriced. If you don’t mind taking the short trip to the Goodwill by the City Center you can find similar items for less than half the price they are selling them at Plato’s. For instance, I found used Columbia brand women’s fleece for $4.00 at Goodwill and Plato’s was selling it for $25. I also found used Magellan brand sportswear at Goodwill for $3.00-6.00 compared to the $18.00 plus they were selling it for at Plato’s. I will say that this Platos has some items that are new with tags and they are selling the item for less $ than it was originally listed for. I think the best value here is buying items that are brand new. If you are buying used items they seem to be really worn and overpriced. As far as selling your clothing items, don’t expect to get more than you would at a garage sale. They bought two brand new items with tags still attached for a whopping $6.50. I know they need to make a profit but that doesn’t seem like a fair price. If you are going to sell your items and you really need money I would suggest taking a large amount of clothing at once. From my experience, if you come in with 10 items or so they will most likely end up buying about 1 or 2 items. You’ll probably get enough money from those items to buy a frappachino at Starbucks. While I appreciate the offer to buy my clothing, I’d rather return the item to the store I bought it from and get back what I bought it for or even get store credit( if...
Read moreI REALLY hate being negative, so I will start with some good things to say about Plato's Closet. They have a nice variety of men and women's clothing, things are organized very well, and the place is tiny yet clean.
Negatives: They have so much stuff in the place, I can understand why they must make excuses to not take things. I just hate being lied to, I'm not a kid, you can't pull wool over my eyes. Not everything is garbage.
The customer service is very bad. Anyone that says it is friendly place, obviously got paid to say that or have friends there. I almost felt like a burden to the people that worked there, they took 20 minutes to look at my items, only to say "No" to EVERYTHING, even the new clothing. Funny thing, I planned on spending all the money I made right there. So they missed out not me, there's other thrifts with similar items.
They're hiring and I see why. I should have read the bad reviews instead of dismissing them, just because I sold something ONE time last year. Lesson learned. I won't be back and I will spread the word. The location is horrible, and there's a curb at the front door, so don't fall on the way in. I warned you.
To the owner or anyone that works there, I can train your employees in the art of customer service. Just contact me, because this place has BEEN like this for quite a while, I just now decided to...
Read moreThis is the worst experience I have ever had at this location. First I drove 45 min to get there and I arrived at 7:22 pm. The store doesn’t close until 9pm but the two associates still watched me uload four large containers of clothes and as I walked in they told me they would t take my items at all. They said they stopped at 7pm and really it just depended on how busy they weee that night. There is nothing on the website that says they don’t take anything after seven nor anything on the door. There was nobody in the store and they were casually hanging around. I believe these people just don’t want to work and whoever owns this franchise should think twice about who they hired. I will never come here again this was the absolute worst for me. Take your business elsewhere. Pearland and Webster treat you right Not look at you like oh well too bad. I only gave a one star because you can’t leave a zero star this place doesn’t deserve any stars nor do the associates working who have the worst customer service ever. Read the reviews Read the reviews! You know it is a grimy place when management doesn’t respond to any of the reviews let alone the ones that speak horribly about them their store their employees and just about anything having to do with a good retail establishment....
