First off I have 1716 nights in Marriott Hotels... Yes.. really. I have stayed in every type of property you can think of. THIS is the new Courtyard and it's better in every way. Obviously super clean, the staff was awesome, and a rare "thank you for your Elite status Mr. Stoddard" (It's the little things). Now the details: Rooms have a new system to hide microwave and coffee pot. It's cleaner and no lights staring you in the face (that's a thing for some business travelers). The alarm clock isn't from 1990 (no giant red light that everyone unplugs the minute they get in the room). Giant TV that has an articulating mount so you can face the couch OR the bed. The side tables have 2 plugs and 2 USB ports for phones (FINALLY and welcome to 2021). The light switch for the whole room is by the door but also right above the side table. You can turn on and off the lights without getting out of bed. GENIUS. I prefer the tea tree toiletries but the shower handle, step and shelf are all right when you walk in (nothing worse than having to step INTO a shower and turn on cold water. Whoever thought that up should be shot). Insulated windows so I can see BUT NOT HEAR I10 and floor to ceiling blinds with ceiling runner means BLACKOUT. Close enough to downtown for a short drive but not dealing with the crazy and paying 30 bucks for parking. I think I found my new fav Houston Metro property. WELL DONE MARRIOTT!!!

Overall my stay was solid. With the exception of only one front desk manager, the rest of the staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The good: easy on-and-off freeway access, lots of good restaurants within a couple of miles of the hotel, and the hotel is relatively new so everything is updated and modern. The bad: Only the front desk manager that I mentioned above (didn't get her name.) Several times I tried to either greet her (not the other way around as it should be, being that I was the guest) or have small talk, she was completely standoffish and wouldn't respond. I'm not sure why someone who has no people skills would be put at the front desk where they intake and are the primary contact for customers. The ugly: none

I have been traveling to Houston many times and have stayed at many hotels, some good and some not so great - this is a great hotel. The hotel is located on the I-10 service road near Memorial Mall. The entrance to the hotel is shared with another hotel, two restaurants and an indoor skydiving area. As you enter the hotel, there is a hallway to your right and the restaurant and bar to the left. Further inside, on the right side is the check-in area where check-in was quick and we received our keys. We took the hallway right next to the door to the elevators and went up to our room on the 5th floor.

The hotel looks and feels new and is very spacious so does not feel cramped nor compact. The size continued into the room as the rooms are also spacious and very comfortable. As you enter the room, on the right side was the bathroom and the closet. The closet contained a place to hang clothes as well as the iron and ironing board. The bathroom was very spacious and contained a sink, a toilet and a shower. Bathroom toiletries included a bar of soap next to the sink and refillable body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower; there was no lotion available in the hotel. Further into the room, on the right side were two large double beds with a nightstand in the middle. The beds were spacious, very comfortable, and provided a good nights sleep. The nightstand in the middle had small lamps above and power ports and an alarm clock. There were also outlets on either side of the bed but not many lights - that was the only negative about the room was the lack of lighting. In between the bed and the large window was a chair and a lamp. Across from the beds was a luggage storage place, a nice large desk with power ports, and against the wall was a cupboard with a fridge on one side and on the other side a microwave on top and ice bucket and coffee machine on the bottom. The main advantages of the room was the spaciousness of the room - nothing felt cramped nor tight - and the plethora of amenities in the room.

The hotel is a full-service hotel so amenities included a restaurant, a bar, a gym, complimentary parking and complimentary wifi. The gym was a decent size and had enough equipment for a good workout, the parking had plenty of spaces and the wifi was decent; I did not try the bar nor the restaurant. Overall, it was a really comfortable stay at the Courtyard. Easy and accessible parking, spacious rooms, and good service yielded a...

I'm always willing to give a hotel or other business a 2nd try. I will say the room was very nice and bed very comfortable, however the first night the staff in the bistro said the could make chicken wings and I settled on a burger which was terrible because the staff in the bistro said the didn't have the sauce that was supposed to go on it. I said ok no big deal, I will give another shot in the morning, next day I ordered a simple breakfast burrito and it took almost an hour to get served the breakfast burrito. We'll ok at least I got to eat! The next morning I wanted to make coffee, it was 5:30 in the morning and I needed coffee. First off there was no creamer or sugar and I asked the night desk staff about it. We'll it went south. The man seemed very agitated I even bothered him and I could understand him. I let him know I was very hard of hearing and asked him to pull down his ridiculous mask so I could at least hear him. He mumbled more under his mask. He did not provide more creamer or sugar, well ok I brewed a cup of dark roast coffee, or so I thought. I ended up with a cup of hot water because there were no beans in the machine. I again went to the desk clerk and actually said I'd need to to pay for the cup of coffee, I told him I'm not paying for a cup of hot water because he refused to take care of customer delight areas in the hotel. I retired to room and make a cup of rot gut room coffee with a ridiculous one packet of sugar and powdered creamer. Very disappointed in the customer service of this particular hotel. For over $150 a night you'd think the Marriott could do better! We will see how tomorrow morning goes because I have one...
