Modern Salon & Spa | Birkdale Village — Attraction in Huntersville

I went here once before about a year ago to a senior stylist and had a great experience- I called book again a year later and was booked with a junior stylist against my knowledge, with no option given otherwise or warning. I got there at 8 am the day of my appointment and told I would pay $320 for a full highlight and toner. I have been blonde for about 5 years now, have dark roots but I always get the same thing done- my hair lifts well, it always goes white to the root. I have gotten it done every 6 weeks for about 4.5 years. On this day, I was still having foils put in by 11 am. Bleach had been on parts of my hair for 3 hours. When I asked about this, my stylist began pulling foils while I was sitting in the chair. She took me to the sink, washed and toned my hair, and took me back to her station where I immediately started crying- my roots were half still brown and half orange. I asked to speak to someone else (I had been here four hours by now) and someone else came over to discuss another toner after I explained what was wrong and showed pictures of what my hair usually looks like. I went back to the sink and while two other stylists tried to fix it, they told me that my hair hadn’t been left to process long enough and was not going to tone- and was far too fragile now for more bleach. So not only did my roots look worse than before- my hair was now damaged. They tried to tone my hair darker to match, even though I have been white blonde for almost 5 years. The staff was all very nice but besides that the experience was terrible- 5 hours for my hair to be damaged, discolored, and told to pay $320 for a stylist still learning and making mistakes. Best birthday gift I could’ve asked for! The artistry of Tami on my color and Alexis on my cut and blow out I am absolutely in love with my hair would recommend 100% Best hair of my life I’ll post a lil before and after ehh some backstory! So I have been struggling to get my hair to the right tone after it being box black to light orange and back to box dark brown over a 4 year span of bleach and box dye and not able to get the right toner(at home diy chaos) 😭 I gave up and let grow out just box dying the roots. My awkward self just watching as Tami foil my hair with such precision and detail so quickly and toned with some sort of magic to this luxurious color with depth and dimension after fully toned,washed,conditioned ,a lovely head massage I was sent to Alexis for a dry rounded cut for my wavy/curly hair and blow out that was absolute perfection. a few questions I could barely answer I just knew I needed some shape with this long flat hair with curly fried ends.. She was off cutting and shaping my hair as if she could read my mind and definitely my reaction! Now honestly I’m terrible at places like this with small talk and extreme social anxiety. Abbie clearly demonstrated she is a true professional and expert in her field. She listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted. It’s difficult to find someone who can interpret what you want and who also gives you what you ask for, but Abbie accomplished both. She was also mindful of my time and got me in and out of the chair in an appropriate amount of time. I am also so happy to have found a salon that is affordable and not outrageous for a haircut and blowout. I was ecstatic when I saw my bill and that is another first for me. I am so pleased with my experience and have already recommended Abbie and the salon to friends and family.
