Long story short: Genuine, honest, legit, GIA certified, no sleazy sales people who work on commission, no rushing, very knowledgeable, patient with your indecisiveness, no pressure.
Long version: I did some basic research on rings so I wouldn't be completely clueless..FIRST we went to a BIG NAME engagement store. The lady seemed nice, I asked to see other rings but she said we were limited as we had a budget. I didn't LOVE the rings she chose. I wish I had more options. It just seemed as if....ok "that was it, this was the one I was going to buy."
It didn't feel right, as nice as the lady was &seemed to care. I put it on hold.I hated how the website just had so many options, but she just chose the one that was put together and didn't even care. I forgot to ask her THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION.But I had her number and asked her if the diamond was GIA certified (independent rating, highest standard, not for profit i believe). She said, "why would we want that if you have a lifetime warranty here? And our name backs it up, so you have nothing to worry about". THAT WAS THE LAST STRAW. GIA means that the diamond's awesomeness (or not) matches what the store is actually claiming it to be. The next day I asked for our hold deposit back. They tried to reset an appt and said that I could build my ring.Yeah.they SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE!! I want to thank her though, because w/o her being sleazy, I would not have found these guys!
So about Simone and Son, I was scared as they were not a big name. In general, alot of the reviews about mom and pop shops seemed to say they do whatever they wanted, lie, mark up the price, changed the stone, etc..Hubby wanted to get me an upgrade for our 10yr.. I saw the recommendations to several stores on a mom group on fb. I checked for all of them on yelp and google. Although some places got MOSTLY GOOD reviews, the bad reviews had to do with iffy things that were done. BUT Simone and Son didn't have one legit negative review.
I called them to see if they had GIA certified diamonds and yes, that's all they deal with. So I went to visit and didn't really set an appointment as we didn't want to feel pressured. We went on a random afternoon with NO expectations of being impressed, just nervous, but hopeful. We got to sit down with Ms. Angela, who was super nice! I told her what I wanted and showed her ALOT of pictures. She told me that they CUSTOM MAKE pretty much anything, and everything there IS CUSTOM MADE. I saw so many really beautiful, one of a kind pieces. To be honest, I did get overwhelmed, but she said you're not going to buy anything today. This will be a long process of trying on stuff, seeing what you like, seeing if you like somethings from different rings and put them together for a custom built one.
I literally had my doubts and wanted them to just get annoyed and rush me or just turn sleeze-bally or fake/not genuine just like all the other places. They were not fazed by my indecisiveness or by my being overwhelmed. I didn't feel pressured to make a decision, or to pick something. They were not disappointed that I was walking out of the door without anything---heck, I could have just been wasting their time. Ms. Angela spent alot of time explaining and educating me about the process, and the different options I had.
I tried on alot of rings, liked a few features from about 3 rings,so I combined them all together. I also had the height modified after seeing and trying on the mold/model.Got it a few weeks later. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! What I wanted plus more. And we got a good deal with our budget! I cannot say enough about this place. Grateful that I found them. They are so genuine and care about everyone that comes in. Thank you
Additional info: the upright mirror on the table will help you see how it looks from afar if you hold the ring up to your face/cheek. There is a LIVE VIDEO of the Jewelry being worked on in the back and you can see it up close! Also, as long as you take it to them, you get your ring repaired, cleaned, shined,...
Read moreShant and his team saved my engagement! After a negative experience with another jeweler, a friend recommended I try Simone & Son where he often goes. I was on a tight schedule because of time lost at the previous place and I needed a miracle to get this ring done so I could propose to my girlfriend on our anniversary. They blew my expectations out of the water!
Everyone in the store is so friendly and helpful, its a true family run business and atmosphere there. I sat down with Jasmine, she was amazing. We talked about my now fiancees style and what we were looking for. She hand drew the ring as I sat there ( amazing to see it come to life right in front of you) and made revisions until it was exactly what I wanted. From there she wrote me a very fair estimate and I put my deposit down. A few days later, Josh called me to tell me that they had made a 3D printed version of the ring and he send me a digital render of it. I came back into the store to see the 3D printed copy. I cant tell you how much that helps in assuring I get exactly what i imagined when i see the stone set in person. Josh and Corinne did a fantastic job bringing Jasmines drawing to life. I made one more revision and we were done.
As i said earlier, my anniversary was a few days away on a Monday ( when S&S is closed) and I was going to be out of town the weekend before. Shant agreed to come in on Monday, even though they were closed and remodeling the inside. I walk in the store and Shant is covered in drywall because he jumped in to help the construction crew. I mean, how awesome is this guy? It is very rare to find an owner that is willing to go this far to help a customer and to help his crew. They guy truly cares about this business.
When Shant handed me the ring, I was speechless. It was beautiful and so much better that I could have imagined it being. I was blown away by the craftsmanship and their ability to make my thought come to life. Also, when Shant went over the paperwork, he said that their quote was too high and he adjusted the price to less than what the estimate was. Needless to say, my Fiancee fell in love with the ring instantly, and she said yes!
On a side note, when I also bought a necklace for my fiancee while I was there. Nick helped me pick it out ( there was no pressure to pay more that I wanted) after telling him what I was looking for and my price range. Sarah was gracious enough to try it on so I could picture how it would look on my Fiancee. Thank you both, she loves it!
To Shant and the entire team at S&S, thank you so much for all your amazing work and dedication. I cant say enough about how easy and painless this experience was. Not once did I feel like I was being pushed to spend more than I wanted to. Your team far exceeded my expectations and you have gained a customer for life!
Thank you guys! You're the...
Read moreWords can not describe how amazing this place is. I have never seen a business display such amazing customer service like Simone & Son. I own several pieces of Tiffany jewelry and spent a few days searching online and calling multiple jewelry stores for an estimate on a cleaning. The Tiffany store charges $45 to clean each piece of jewelry and takes 2 weeks to ship them and return them to their store. I use to send my jewelry to them but now I'm a full time graduate student still paying off my undergraduate degree; so I am now unable to afford that price to clean my jewelry. I called several stores and received a rough estimate of $20-30 dollars for each item. Luckily I found several reviews for Simone & Son online. All the reviews I saw for this business we're postive so I gave them a call. They informed me they charge only $15 for a cleaning and they do this service in house, that's $30 less than Tiffany's and I will receive my item at a quicker rate. When I came into the store I was greated warmly by the staff and explained to them I had several pieces that needed a cleaning. I spent a few minutes speaking to the staff and at the end of my conversation the store owner said he would clean my jewelry for free. I was shocked, I couldn't believe what he just said. He explained to me that he was more than happy to help me and that they like to help out others. I had 9 peices to clean, this service would have cost me $405 at Tiffanys but Simon & Son performed a higher quality of service at 0 cost. When I picked up my jewelry I couldn't believe how amazing it looked. They managed to make my jewelry look brand new. Their quality of work is far better than Tiffnays cleaning. I wore several peices back to work and all my coworkers thought I just came back from the Tiffanys store with brand new jewelry. They were Shocked when I told them these were old peices that I had cleaned. The funny part was when I mention Simone & Son was the bussiness that cleaned my peices some of my coworkers smiled and nodded. It turns out they own several beautiful peices of jewelry that was customized to their liking by Simone & Son. This store deserves way more...
