I was turned on to this beach a couple of decades ago and it has proved to be a chill place timelessly. It is easily accessible, never "too" crowded and truthfully, the minimal traffic from tourists provides the locals the opportunity to respond in a positive way (other than a fake gesture for the saints of the almighty $).
It has become a regular first stop on or Cali trips dota to several factors: location, interstate, kids are single digits, we drive all night and arrive near the early morning-low tide. All these factors have produced amazing beginnings to vacations!
Don't get me wrong I know that there's Tijuana funky floaties.... hence the reason we take our children at 5 or 6 in the morning; no one wants to go swim in cold-ass water when they first wake up. Read moreI absolutely love this beach. There is a beautiful view of downtown San Diego. The beach is relaxing. I come to this beach often. I pick a spot and I sit down for a couple of hours. I forget about life and it's many problems. I usually write poetry or rap lyrics. It is a great place to let your emotions out. A cry or a sigh of relief.
