Leon Market & Liquor — Local services in Imperial Beach

I love this store it’s right in my area and 2 of the people that I have encountered have been awesome employees, one is a female and the other is a younger male he was actually working on Mother’s Day however, this morning however, when I went in the older male employee not only made up his own rules when it came to buying the scratcher tickets but he then said he would sell them using a card if I paid more money, if I can only purchase them using cash then how is it the other employees had no problem selling but today it was an issue and then he blamed it on their lack of experience in the store but the other two employees did not seem brand new and what are the odds that two of them will sell tickets on a card and one won’t without you spending a certain dollar amount? I did look up the rules and certain establishments are able to deny a credit card however, it wasn’t a credit card and if you can’t accept card why would you tell me if I spent more money you would? The math there isn’t adding up and I don’t know what the reasoning was to be honest I just know there is a way to talk to a person and a way not to and I can confidently say if that older man is working I will not be shopping...

During our time in Imperial Beach, going to this market was always a delightful experience. As we were in and out frequently, it was one of the highlights of our trip. Paul? (aka Michael Rappaport or Woody Harrelson as we called him) was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The way he treated all types of customers consistently showing he was happy and passionate to be there was quite impressive. We thought he must've been the managing partner (and if not he should be) that worked/lived in the area for years. He gave us not only tips about purchases, but also local cuisine and sites in and around Imperial Beach and San Diego. If you are in the area, you should definitely visit Leon's market. We were able to satisfy all our market needs...

The only reason I put a star is because I had to in order to post. I have had to go to Leon's market a couple of times to pick up one of his employees for reasons such as Dr. Appt. A trip to the hospital, important reasons like that and Rod the owner flipped out on me embarrassed me screamed at me in front of other customers. I thought maybe if I purchased something too, so I did. It did not help. Hes rude, he judged me he disrespected me and he is not a nice person. So I rate him...
