I would not recommend booking your reservations through SanDiegoVacation. While the accommodations we stayed at were nice, the customer service was among the worst I have encountered in the service industry.
Some background - We showed up to the Imperial Beach Club and there were signs all over the beach stating that the water was closed due to contamination. It turns out it had rained a week before we arrived and apparently the stormwater from Tijuana always floats north, resulting in beach closures. Although I recognize that a beach closure is in no way the fault of the management company, I was shocked that the management team said nothing to us about the beach closure.
In fact, when we asked them about it after we first arrived, they apologized and stated that the beach closure was out of their control and offered us a 10% discount on our next stay as compensation for the inconvenience. They acknowledged that they knew the beach was closed, but that they were optimistic it would be open before we arrived. It actually didn't end up opening until the day we were checking out (10 days following the initial beach closure). Even with the shore right in front of our condo, we had to load up the car every day and drive 20 minutes to another beach. Had we known the beach was closed we could have at least planned for this and had the supplies on hand that we would have needed.
At the conclusion of our vacation, we sent a follow up email to the management company expressing our disappointment for their lack of communication about the beach closure and suggesting that in the future they should inform their customers if a beach closure has occurred within close proximity to their upcoming stay. That email went unanswered for 10 days until we followed up with another email and phone call. Their manager was extremely rude and condescending on the phone. When we asked to speak to her supervisor, she refused to give us his contact information or let us speak with him.
We were able to find the contact information for the owner of the company through a simple Google search and sent him a message about the entire experience, hoping to be understood. Instead we received a response that the beach closure is out of their control and that they cannot predict or control the weather. We were also told to be grateful that their complex had a pool (as if that somehow makes up for the beach closure). They also told us that nobody, including the Marriott next door, informs their clients about beach closures. So we called the Marriott next door and were told that they would be more than happy to let us know if any beach closures occurred prior to our stay.
In summary, I would not recommend booking through SanDiegoVacation. This review is not intended to provide a negative review of the Imperial Beach Club. I would welcome staying at the Imperial Beach Club again. I just won't be using SanDiegoVacation when I book that...
Read moreBeware, my issues started even before arriving, in my rental agreement, it stated there was a heated pool, wrong, being worked on are entire stay, property did not look like any of the pictures they showed on their website, broken tiles all around the property, first night homeless tried breaking into a unit below us, no employee or any other person was on site, it took a guest on the 3rd level to scare them away. On rental agreement it states no one is to climb over walls from beach onto their grounds was prohibited, with no one on site, people climbed over multiple times, making our stay uneasy, not feeling safe being on their grounds at night, especially leaving personal property out in the patio. Although are Unit 206, was enough room, it lacked in other areas, refrigerator did not cool properly, leaking water on floor every night, one side of the sink would not drain, leaving really dirty and grimy water, tried resetting button, before calling the maintenance number provided, it was continuously busy, had to call reservations to get help, disposal needed to be replaced, crisper drawer was broken, could not use, bunk bed in bedrooms missing steps to get to the top bunk, making it unsafe, keys to outside gates did not work all the time and frequently got stuck. Maybe it was just this unit that had problems, since the units are individually owned, and good owners make good hosts, this owner was not that person, because other family members stayed in beautiful rooms, with absolutely no issues. Would I recommend this place, absolutely not, felt unsafe the...
Read moreWe stayed in 305 and the view was wonderful. I enjoyed waking up every morning and seeing the ocean right out of the window. However, for the price we paid for the room, it was pretty shabby. The cleaning crew only cleaned the quick basics. There was popcorn all over the floor by the night stand in the master bedroom, dust everywhere, cabinet handles were so stripped they just pulled right off, missing broken blinds, there were locks missing from the doors, glass rings on all of the furniture, we found other peoples clothing in the drawers, the master closet was packed with tile, paint and carpet, which made me nervous about hanging my clothing in there. We had to buy some essentials that you would assume would have been provided, like a can opener and dryer sheets. The main bathroom has a sink with a handle that is broken and is a pain in the butt to shut off. The patio door frame had broken splintered wood at the bottom of the frame, which is not ideal with children. Over the kitchen table there is this light that you are guaranteed to hit your head on several times a day, especially if you are dealing with children. The light doesn't work at all and serves no purpose that we have found other than to give you a headache. Over all I would say that the location is wonderful, the view was wonderful, but 305 itself needs some serious work. There were comments that 305 was renovated and we saw no evidence of that. The only thing that made it worth it was the...
