Fresco Italian Cafe on the Canal — Restaurant in Indianapolis

So the location is good. I spent $80 though for food that really was not impressive at all. They have a charcuterie board but the only thing that it consisted of was one type of bread a cheese that was just given to me even though I was supposed to get a choice between two types of cheese, almonds, and grapes. I have never had a shark how to report with that low amount of variety. I got a caprese salad that was quite small. It was okay but everything was on styrofoam dishware. I don't understand why this was. If they're going to charge that much for their food I don't understand why I had plastic forks and styrofoam plates and plastic cups. My friend got an Italian beef. I have always seen these come with peppers. They gave us one pepper. We got the s'mores. Those were also okay but I don't understand why we're given four marshmallows for four smores. It seemed quite stingy. Everything about this place was them giving you the absolute minimum for inflated prices. I was not impressed at all. Also they expected a tip when there was really no waiter or waitress service. I think that was a lot to ask. I don't understand what the tip was for. For them just making your food? Don’t tip till after you experience the service. We waited in line for over 20 minutes to order at 3 PM on a Saturday. The food took even longer to arrive, and they forgot half our order. When I tried to flag down the waitress to tell her (we thought maybe it was coming later, never did), she held her hand up in my face and said, “No.” Then she went inside and came out with ONE of the two things that were missing. She had no idea that an entire entree was missing because she wouldn’t even let me talk to her. Unbelievable. And of course they flash the screen at you to tip BEFORE they show you what kind of service they give, so they got an awesome tip on crap service. When I finally got my food, everyone else in my party was done. The food is spectacularly overpriced and supremely underwhelming, but not nearly as bad as the service. I love this place. How long has it been here? How many times have I walked by? Why did I never look at their menu? I don’t have the answers to these questions. I sincerely apologize for not coming sooner. The food was fantastic and the staff were super friendly. Prices were reasonable. The location is perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the patio enjoying our food by the canal. Unfortunately people who live in Indianapolis do not see the canal as a destination for food. That needs to change. I wish we had more restaurants along the canal so that people would see it as a dining destination. I think Fresco gets the majority of its business from people who just happen to walk by while walking the canal.
