City Barbeque is located between Oscar Robertson Blvd and 10th St, west of Doctor MLK Jr St near the in the Ransom Place area of Indianapolis in the West Side Shoppes center, very close to the IUPUI campus. IUPUI students: City Barbeque gives a 10% discount, just show them your Crimson card. Also, you can use your Crimson card to pay which is pretty rad. (I don't go to the school, I just found out about it and wanted to share 👍) City Barbeque has plenty of seating inside as well as outside. There's a mixture of bar height tables, lower height tables, booths, and bar seating facing the street. They have a variety of bottled soda to chose from in addition to the standard fountain drinks. Foodwise, there's a ton of different choices to select from. You'll have no problem finding something that you'll quickly enjoy. There's a lot of local sports teams represented on the walls or hanging from the rafters. And, they've got a party/event room dedicated to IUPUI Jaguars, the Jag Room. They have about 4 or 5 different sauces to add onto your food, as well as some packet sauces. I went with the Judge's Sampler and I was NOT disappointed! Everything was so juicy and full of flavor. The judges sampler included brisket, pulled pork, 1/4 chicken, half slab, two sides, and two cornbread. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming from the moment I walked in, during the meal, and on my way out. I'd say it's a must stop place to eat at!

Haven't been to this place in a while that might change. Not because of the food but the staff and atmosphere in general. I had the pleasure of having Gastin take my order he was kind and let me sample the corn pudding because ive never tasted it before. It was pretty good; a lil greasy but he did say it was the end of the pan so that may be why. I thought it was still yummy. I came for the wings. Gastin let me know that they only had drumetts and no flats. I was ok with that. The staff bagging up the order were also very kind. One of them gave me an extra container to separate my wings. They were all wonderful. Now when it comes to the wings they were ok but too salty for my taste and the ranch was just ok too I've had better ranch. All in all the wings for me are a 4.5 out of 10. They were just too salty. The coleslaw i got was just ok I wish it was sweeter 3.5 out of 10. The ranch 3 out of 10. Will I go back yes will I get the wings again probably not. I did finish the wings with bbq sauce and that made them a lot better. The sweetness from the sauce help cut a lot of the saltiness. My experience with the staff definitely gets a 10 out of 10. Those young men up front were awesome and the kindness I was shown would of definitely made their mamas very proud of them.

UPDATE O7/25/24 ***** After leaving the below review City Barbeque emailed me a $15 gift card. I gave them a 2nd chance and ordered 2 sandwiches for $19 and paid the difference. IT WAS WORSE THAN THE FIRST TIME!!!!!! *****THIS LOCATION IS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!****** I got a pulled pork sandwich and it was DRY with some portions of the meat being inedible. Also tried the Nashville hot sandwich and the sauce and pickle were good but the chicken, yep you guessed it OVERCOOKED AND DRY!!!!! Coleslaw was cabbage and nothing else in mayo. Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me. ******NEVER AGAIN AT THIS LOCATION!!!!!! Got the 3 meat combo and cornbread. Paid $28.59 including the $3.15 upcharge for brisket as a choice. Brisket - very small portion and dry Pulled pork - very small portion and the fattiest I've ever had Sausage - salty, cheap, grocery bin style Man n' cheese - standard but decent Cornbread - overcooked and tasted of burnt oil on exterior BBQ Sauce - I got the original. It was so sickening sweet I would hate to see how sweet the sweet one is.

I had placed an online order valued at ($29) and when I got there a few minutes early (scheduled pickup @ 315pm). The cashier asked for my name. I said my last name and she turned around and asked someone else if that was my food. I said is the coleslaw in the bag she said yes. Well I order the family meal (my 2nd visit) and the way they package the food. You can't tell what's what. My finance took the bag and I bought a drink (which should have been included in the price but it wasn't it). So I didn't think to look at the receipt stapled to the bag (Duh!) nor did the cashier. The biggest take away is that my fiance doesn't eat PORK. We didn't figure that out until half way through. Fries were cold, very salty and soggy. Bad experience but when I called up there I had to explain my story 3 times until I got the manager, Steve. He needs to learn how to listen to the customer. Have a pen and paper ready to take notes. Then resolve this matter. I'm supposed to go back up there to get my order at 6 pm but I really just want my $$ back. Not happy with the service.

I'm going to do a two for one. If I was doing a review for dine in it's a 5 🌟 Ronda was on duty. She took the time to tell me about the sides and meats. It was my first time, and she was patient. She is a happy soul. I enjoyed my meal. My sandwich was filled nice and the sides were good. My friend got the Chipolte double sandwich on Texas toast. His meal looked good I said I would return for it. I returned because of Ronda and her great attitude. I ordered the Chipotle to go. Ronda asked if I wanted butter, onions, jalapeños, pickles, honey and extra sauce. I said I would like three of each. I got to work. I had no butter. One container of pickles, onions and jalapeños and two sauces. My single sandwich had more meat than this double 🙎 I was able to stretch the toppings, but without the sauce it was dry. I felt I had more bread than meat. I did not eat the cornbread without butter. The girl who prepared my meal was not friendly. I recommend you check your bag before you walk out, or sit down and dine in!

It’s a great day with good eats whenever I visit City Barbeque . I’ve been eating here for years & the biggest complaint I have is I’m not a fan of their sauce…but their BBQ is so good I usually eat it without sauce . You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu ;; from their ribs , to the baked beans , to their brisket , the wings & everything else they have to offer . I definitely enjoy their seasonal items as well such as their Carolina Goldmine sandwich & their Brisket Frito’s pie . The main thing I wish they would bring back && make a part of their regular menu items is their DEEP FRIED RIBS with horseradish sauce . That was the sole thing that made me fall in love with City Barbeque and had me ordering from there every single day . If you’ve never been , make sure you try it out . You won’t be disappointed
