If we could rate this 0 stars we would. 2019 and racism is still an issue! During our stay at the Village at Camelback, our family visited the pool yesterday and was asked to remove one of our kids from the jacuzzi. Totally fine. Against policy, I get it. However, it is the way the woman approached our family and asked our kid to exit the jacuzzi. She goes, “the kids need to get out of the hot tub if their under 16. So yeah they have to go. Come on off you go. Out. Thanks.” On top of that the jets weren’t working so we asked about that. She gave us some bogus excuse of “it goes off when it’s been on for a while. The guy who installed it said it overheats or something”. While we let this go we proceeded to continue to enjoy the jacuzzi before they closed.
As we look over and she is going up to employees pointing at us. Then a group of young Caucasian girls were about to enter the pool area and the lady was pointing and looking at us at the jacuzzi. The girls started smiling and laughing and pointing as well. We felt super uncomfortable so I chose to find a supervisor on site to make a complaint. I walked in and asked there was one on site. The lady said no and what do I need. I said that I still needed to speak to someone regarding her being unprofessional. Found a guy and I was super calm and professional. I explained to the guy and he was very understanding of how that could be for our family. I let the guy know that she shouldn’t be able to treat visitors who come there to enjoy their time there that way. Of course while I’m talking to the guy she’s trying to interrupt me and talk over me. I remained calm. Personal feelings keep them out of the work place because they will lose a lot customers that way. After that, she jumped in my face saying “you’re not going to tell me how to do my job!” I flipped after that! My wife was there to stop her from trying to put her hands on me for her being in the wrong.
I will not ever recommend this place to any black/African Americans. We shouldn’t be treated that way on a family vacation no matter where we go. Yes, racism still lives! This I know, but it’s a different feeling when you’ve been...
Read moreIf you are looking into purchasing one of these units stay away. We had two units we recently sold. The HOA fee is high and if you choose to rent your unit like most owners do it is 20$ per booking. You are required to submit paperwork for all rentals and even though it was done in a timely manner the units were confused by security and missed entirely causing us negative reviews and unnecessary phone calls. The main reason we chose to leave is due to the deterioration and lack of upkeep from management.
When we purchased they were having some of the roofs done by illegal workers the nails and debris were left all over the ground and decks. Our airbnb guests complained that the workers were standing on our furniture looking into the unit. I complained that my daughter was picking up cigarette butts left behind and the woman in the office Sicily chuckled and said it was our problem to clean up. They never even finished the chimneys and were left undone 1.5 years later. Decks are rotting and forgotten. A winter storm caused ice damming and major leaks in one of our units and even though the chimney work was not completed- shocker- our problem. There are no working lights in several areas railings that are falling apart. After the miami condo collapse we were told in order to get the decks up to code we would need to pay over 3k out of pocket. That’s when we...
