Onslow Audio — Attraction in Jacksonville

The Worst business deal I have experienced! Integrity is in low supply at Onslow Audio.

I went in last Friday and talk with a sales rep about replacing my stereo and speakers he showed me a model and a set of speakers that look good he told me the total cost with install and I agreed to do it. They were able to get me in right then and said it would be about a two hour wait. I waited in their lobby waiting room for the two hours he came back in to let me know it was complete, we went outside to the car and went over the all the features of the new stereo at this point everything seemed to be good but once the sales rep left the car and I was ready to leave I noticed the steering wheel function to turn the volume up and down didn't work so I went back in and explain this to him and his reply was that's an additional feature and would require another module and would require programming and this would cost more, then he said "I thought I told you that? I explain that was never discussed and why would I want to have less functionality than I had before? His reply again was "sorry I thought I mentioned that". I left very disappointed and out of time. I then decided to come back in on Monday to address it again this time I spoke with another manager that said there would be a new install fee, the original sales guy walked up joined the conversation and concurred with what I was saying but the manager insisted that I would still have to pay the install fee. The Discussion got a little heated and escalated to the point they called the owner David to come over. I explain the whole story to the owner David, he seemed hesitant at first but said he could understand the misunderstanding and decided to go ahead and schedule the appointment to install the module with no labor fee as long as I was willing to pay for the part which I agreed to , we scheduled the appointment and then I Left the store. 20 minutes later I received a phone call from the owner David which he stated they would NOT be able to do the install because he spoke with his employees and they told him that both the sale manager and the installer came into the waiting room on Friday and told me about the additional requirement at which point I told both of them I didn't want it done??? I told the owner David that conversation never took place no one came into the waiting room except to tell me my car was finish, David the owner then accuse me of lying and said that he believed his employees over me and then he tried to tell me that I must have forgot the Conversations where I supposedly told both of his employees no thanks I don't want the steering wheel functions Because of course I wanted to pay all this money to have less functionality. So after I hung up on David after he accused me of amnesia and or lying, I went to Best Buy to find out they have the exact same stereo, speakers and module for steering wheel, plus they do FREE INSTALLATION with purchases over a hundred dollars !!!

So I pretty much paid double the price at Onslow Audio and they didn't even completed the job to give me a fully Functioning stereo system. Oh and by the way Best Buy's stereo and modular were both cheaper, the speakers were about the same price but the biggest thing was the free install at Best Buy.

So don't waste your money and time with Onslow Audio.

David you might want to review your security camera that you say is recording all the time and go back and look at Friday and see how many people walked into the waiting room between 230 and 430 you’ll find that nobody did except at the very end to tell me my car was finished. I sit in the waiting room for two hours with my dog so I think I would remember two different people walking in and presenting me with that option. Sad excuse for you not just wanting to admit that your sales guy made a mistake and didn’t mention...

The work done here is professional, there's nothing more to it. I went in and said my price point, within 30 minutes we had picked out a complete system from head unit and door speakers to amp and woofer. The price was less than discussed at $1450 when my budget was $1500. Then 2 days later i came in and changed my budget to a little more and they helped me upgrade my selection and get me right on my new budget. They had to order a new piece for my dash because mine is a bulky POS. That came in next day and I had it installed the day after that. They let me come in 2 hours before my scheduled time and they started working immediately. The man I had worked with to pick everything out stayed late for me to get there after they were closed. And then he helped me tune it to my liking and explained to me everything that I didn't understand so I could adjust on my own. I could not be happier about the service I got here. Came to get a new backup camera installed because old one stopped working. Came with my own camera but got convinced to buy a higher quality one from them for an extra hundred dollars. The reason I’m giving one star is because after the installation my subwoofers stopped working and were stuck on max no matter how much I adjust the knob. When I told them this the gentlemen who worked on my truck and pretty much told me I was out of luck because the old owner of my truck had put a large amount of wiring and it was a mess. But I don’t believe a backup camera should affect my bass control knob. I wish he would have came and told me how messy it was before he installed the camera so I could make the decision on if it was worth continuing and risking something getting messed up instead of telling me after I paid, then telling me I’m out of luck.
