I’m giving five stars primarily because of my personal trainer, Carla. My mom and I have been members of this gym since it opened nearly three years ago, and I have to say, things have definitely changed—and not for the better.
When we first started, the gym had an incredible team. Everyone was happy, enthusiastic, and always greeted us with a motivating atmosphere. The staff would say things like, “Welcome, let’s get it!” That’s no longer the case. Nowadays, the front desk staff barely smiles or greets you. When I joined, all the trainers were friendly, available, and approachable. We never had to wait until Carla was available to ask about using a machine. Now, if Carla’s not there, we typically just stick to cardio because the trainers are unapproachable and unfriendly.
Additionally, the gym has become overcrowded in recent months, with waits for machines being the norm. A few months ago, there was an accident in one area, and it still hasn’t been fixed.
When we joined, we received a 2-for-1 promotion because we signed up for personal training. A few weeks ago, I had a frustrating experience when I tried to bring my mom in. They wouldn’t let me in without having me sign a waiver and create a “guest” profile. A few days later, my mom went to the gym, and they wouldn’t let her in because I wasn’t there, even though the membership is under my card and phone number The account is in my mom’s name, but she doesn't speak English well, and she struggled to explain this to the staff for several minutes. It was a frustrating experience.
To be honest, the customer service has declined, and the atmosphere is no longer as inspiring. However, the one thing that has remained consistent and the only reason I continue to pay almost $300 a month is Carla. If you’re looking for a personal trainer, I highly recommend Carla. She is knowledgeable, professional, kind, and reliable. She takes the time to get to know you and knows exactly when to push you and when to give you a break. She has helped my mom, who has knee problems, progress to the point where she can now do squats!
Carla, thank you for...
Read moreLet me start with a standing ovation for the staff. These folks are the Michelangelo of manners—polite, helpful, and radiating kindness like human sunbeams. If this gym were a movie, they’d be the Oscar-worthy supporting cast. Sadly, the rest of this show is a chaotic, unscripted disaster titled Zoo of Sweat and Selfies.
This place is a daily circus, no matter the hour. 5AM? Pandemonium. 230PM? Still a madhouse. The clientele here treat gym etiquette like it’s an optional side quest. You'll have folks claiming two machines at once, draping their jackets and water bottles like they’re staking out land in the Wild West. Bro, this isn’t Survivor: Weight Room Edition. Pick a station and stay there until you are done!
And don’t get me started on the TikTok auteurs. Tripods clog the walkways like they’re filming Citizen Kane instead of their fifth “leg day” reel. Newsflash, Spielberg, this isn’t your personal film set. Ban filming in gyms, I beg. My beer belly shouldn’t be an extra’s gig in your influencer saga.
Here’s an idea! hike the membership fee by $50. It’ll thin the herd, fund more cleaning staff, and maybe keep the bathrooms from looking like a post-apocalyptic porta-potty. The weights are strewn about like modern art installations, and the back mats? They’ve upgraded from “biohazard” to “tolerable” since winter, but it’s a low bar. The staff, bless their souls, are fighting a losing battle against all of this. It's a lot to keep up with.
I’ve been loyal to LA Fitness longer than most marriages last, but this location has me questioning my life choices. I’m one dumbbell drop away from shelling out for a pricier gym where chaos doesn’t reign supreme. The only glimmer of hope? Most of these gym-goers work from home, and by 2026, AI agents will likely replace 99% of them and they won't have a job to pay their membership. Maybe then I’ll return to a quieter, cleaner gym. Until that utopia arrives, I’m...
