So my family has been here a couple times before. The first couple times were great experiences. The 3rd or 4th time not so much. However I will say we were a huge group and we didn't give them any notice ahead of time😬. When we got there there were only two other tables besides ours and they were pretty much done by the time we ordered, possibly before. After that we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. There was only one waiter. I felt a little bad because our big group definitely overwhelmed him. The kids meals (for a 4yr and 3 yrold) was the last to come out. The food was lacking in flavor this time around 😩. The beans had zero flavor, rice was not good at all. That may have been worse than the beans. I'm not sure. You know the simple delicious staples you're used to. The Birria was good but could have used the melted cheese for the Birria tacos. ( Again that one wasn't really on the menu, so I'm not going to complain too much about that. That's more my fault. Birria is but not birria tacos) Drink orders took awhile to come as well and then we had one order not come out until we all were pretty much done eating and she had to rush to eat her two tacos. Overall the atmosphere is nice and inviting. They just need to be a little more staffed I'd say. We'll definitely give them another try. Maybe it was an off day or not the normal chef's. Who knows. Stick to their mole!!! They definitely specialize in that. I'm very picky about mole and they have 3 different kinds! All are delicious.
SN: my son had an allergic reaction to their Pina colada. They're different from the normal colada but I'm sure the same basic ingredients. So we're not sure what caused it. It's all things he's had before so that was kind of weird. My daughter also had it, and was...
Read moreTL;DR- go and try their moles! I am typically not a fan of moles but these were so good and I support this local family business!
Saw this place listed as best margarita in Illinois from a blog by Yelp. We were up for some margarita on National Margarita Day at another place but made last minute changes to come here after seeing the list. Checked out biz on Yelp and wasn’t sure if I can trust the 5 star rating since it’s so rare. I had some doubts in my head but after dining here, I give an honest 5 star myself!
Drinks- regular margarita $10 I wouldn’t necessarily say they’re the best I’ve ever had, but they were tasty. I ended up drinking 3 since I was having a good time! Passion fruit margarita $12 it was too sweet for me so I ordered regular thereafter
Service- owner was there alone on the floor since I went fairly early. I can hear her passion with her moles and she took care of us well. Later in the night, her daughter came to help out. They were very friendly and love the pride they have of their own store. I support this family business!
Food- chips & salsa (complimentary) i prefer my chips thin so these were perfect. We were served with regular green verde sauce on the side (which I typically love but we didn’t even touch it here because the others were so much better!). On a platter of red mole, green mole, and mole. Let me tell you, I’m typically not a fan of mole and would not order it. But these moles were so flavorful.
Enchiladas- I wanted to try enchiladas and she even recommended for me to try it with green mole sauce and it was so good! It had an unexpected kick to it but I’d definitely order again. Quesabirria- my friend ordered it and I want to try...
Read moreEver wondered what mole is? Think of it as the sophisticated, slow-simmered soul of Mexican cuisine – a complex sauce often featuring chilies, spices, and sometimes even chocolate. Mis Moles not only gets mole, they get that choosing one is a commitment! Bless their hearts for offering mole samples – a game-changer for the indecisive (like me!). My shrimp ceviche was a zesty start, followed by a solid steak tampiquenia playing second fiddle to a dark mole enchilada that whispered sweet (and slightly savory) nothings. My only tiny critique? A grain of salt more might have elevated things to perfection. But listen, if you're on a quest to explore the diverse world of mole – their vibrant red, zesty verde, and rich, dark chocolatey options are calling your name. Consider me a convert. Next time, I'm diving headfirst into a traditional chicken mole, and you bet your bottom dollar it'll be slathered in that darker magic. I'll be back for more mole. Also I apologize there's no photos of any of the food , as soon as it hit the table I snorted it.
Of course they had all of the classic Mexican cocktails try the Jamaica (hibiscus) cocktail but what really stood out to me was the traditional piña colada using traditional ingredients (creme of coconut ) in addition the passion fruit margarita had real passion fruit in the mix....😋
