New Graceful Nail Spa 2 — Attraction in Jersey City

The reason for my low review of this salon doesn't have to do with the work of the techs but of the customer service that I have experienced. The first situation occurred when I booked a morning appointment on their booking site. I arrived to my appointment a few minutes early and was told that the nail tech wasn't there yet and that she would be a few minutes. As I was waiting, another tech finally came to me and told me that the person I booked with already had an appointment with someone else. I asked her how could she have an appointment with someone else when I booked the timeslot online, I was told that sometimes the booking site is wrong or messed up. Although that left a very bad taste in my mouth bc it was both unprofessional and a complete waste of my time I decided to make an appointment for another day. This time I called to make sure the tech would be available. That day I arrived to my appointment and once again the tech was running late which I didn't mind too much bc it was in the morning. I got my nails done a few times after with the same tech and I was satisfied with how my nails turned out. Fast forward, my reg tech wasn't available so I called the shop to inquire about the availability of another tech. I was told over the phone to book on the site, I explained to them that I went through a negative experience the first time when booking online and I preferred to make the appt over the phone but they said it's fine book online. I even spoke to the nail tech and he told me to check the site bc it shows his availability and that he would call me back which never happened. So I decided to trust it and book online for the following afternoon. When I booked the tech had open availability for much of the afternoon so I booked a 430. The morning of my appointment, I checked the availability again and all of the slots including the ones after mine were booked so I figured I'll be fine. I get to the shop and had to find parking, I called the shop around 4:35 to inform them that I was finding parking when I was told that the nail tech i booked with had left. I said what do you mean they left???? After 5 minutes, when i have constantly had to wait on other occasions when i got my nails done. Again another waste of a trip, gas, and time. A few minutes later I get a text from the booking site saying something about how they were busy during the time of my appt and therefore couldn't service me. During both situations, they acted as if they didn't really care. Unfortunately the salons in jc know that they are going to get customers regardless so they don't value them or feel the need to provide great customer service. Very disappointed and upset. First and last time at this nail salon. I regret not going to my usual nail salon. I got a gel X nail set done. My design was short French nails with a few beads on the nails. Everything was fine up until I got home. My cuticles began to hurt badly and they were very sensitive. I thought maybe the nail technician had trimmed and filed my cuticles too much so I tried not to pay attention to it. They next day I woke up in even worse pain. My cuticles were swollen and even more sensitive. I couldn’t take the pain anymore so I started removing the nails. As I was removing the nails, the nail came out from UNDERNEATH my cuticle. The nails were pushed so far into my cuticles which is why they were hurting and became agitated. It was such a relief once all the nails were off and my hands felt so much better. As you can see in the photos my cuticles are still a bit red and so are my nails. I’ve never had this experience before. If you don’t know how to do gel X then you shouldn’t go ahead and do it anyways. I kind of was getting those vibes as the lady was going my nails. She was having trouble sticking the nails and she was overflowing them with so much gel. I’m glad my nails are doing better now and I’m never coming back again. What a...

Original review: Highly recommend! They are so welcoming and hospitable. Fair warning, not all of the ladies do a good job with the pedicures but the manicures are always amazing! Overall my favorite nail salon ever!

Update 7/2021: I’ve been a faithful customer here for a very long time, but no more. So they got a whole new staff and I no longer recommend. The prices seem to be made up as I saw two customers get the same exact thing but were charged differently. THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH!!! They have an atm but sometimes it doesn’t work. The nail techs rush through now and when you try to correct them they try to justify themselves instead of making changes to YOUR nails. The polish job is very sloppy (I left with nail polish and acrylic all over my fingers but they were busy so they rushed through trying to remove it). They don’t even give you lotion when you’re done anymore; before they would put oil or lotion when they were done and massage your hands, I didn’t even get that. I got a very basic design and it was not good.
