Trip over to Liberty Island was great, but last ferry too late for Ellis Island, in spite of the fact that we literally stopped at Ellis Island to pick up passengers before heading to Statue of Liberty. Lady Liberty was magnificent! I had not visited since childhood, but it was grander than I remembered. She could use a cleaning like back in the 1980's. But seeing all the different nationalities was a reminder of how great this country is, and can be. The trouble began when it was time to leave. Accidently boarded the wrong ferry. Wound up at South Ferry. NY instead of Liberty Park NJ. After getting directions for a 15-20 minute walk to another ferry, imagine my dismay when the very same ferry boat was moored and empty at Liberty Park! They could have allowed me to ride across the river, instead of walking from Battery Park to the World Financial Center, waiting and paying more money for a ferry that was going exactly where they went. Maybe if they made departures a bit more clear, or they showed decency to end the entire voyage at Liberty Park where they all...

But, I would say 30% of the people in that line were turned away because they had not purchased tickets yet. They had no idea that the ticket window was 125 yards back in the old train terminal. There were no signs leading up to security. In security not much better. Had to wait longer to get through because many people were instructed what to do with coats, bags etc right before walking through metal detector. Again....signage would help move the line along. Finally, you exit security and no signs to the ferry loading area. It is right there but the way that seems logical to get there is a dead end. We all had to turn around and find the opening. An employee came out at one point and yelled that a big group was waiting in the wrong area. As we stood waiting we observed just about everyone heading the wrong way. Once...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreQuite place. I have been visited the Liberty Statue from battery park as well but this one is quite. If you are looking for quick and quick out of the ferry, this is the place. Remember after you get on ferry, time will be same from either places. Ample amount of parking spaces with minimal charge . I paid $9 for 6 hours in Sept 2022. The ferry goes to Alice Island first and then the Statue of Liberty. By mistake we went to the Statue first and the had to take New York ferry to get to Alice Island. By the time we finished, it was already 5:35 and we had to wait till 6:30 for final ferry to arrive. Important, if you are buying a ticket at ferry station , it doesn't include pedestal access, for which you need to take elevator once you reach the Statue. Get tickets online , a day before your visit to get guaranteed access to pedestal. Ticket price is same , with or without pedestal access....
