Coyote Corner is AWESOME!!! If for nothing else & you don't read any further, at least read this: they have better & cheaper souvenirs than the Joshua Tree NP Visitor's Center that's literally right across the road! Cool little hole-in-the-wall, eclectic, local shop that by most "normal" measures shouldn't be a reason for most tourists to stop here; BUT YOU SHOULD! Catered toward & centered around those that know the REAL reason to visit & enjoy Joshua Tree NP (think of the crowd that usually inhabits Camp 4 at Yosemite, backcountry camps for weeks at Glacier, travels the world seeking out that ever elusive "perfect pitch", & would gladly trade A/C, cable, & smog for quiet nights under clear skies with bright stars that you could almost touch & campfire flames illuminating & warming their weathered, tired, but very happy, smiling faces) (not the thousands of suburbanite, soccer-mom vans filled with obese, annoying kids that don't know the first thing about nature outside of video games & stuffing their faces with twinkies, & are just checking that box for 'See America, Visit A National Park', as in, they visit the visitors center & snap a couple pics, complain that it's too hot & drive toward the neon lights of LA or Vegas...), Coyote Corner has locally produced, good quality climbing chalk (it's actually really good & works on sore fingers!) & other locally produced goods, like smudge sticks, jewelry, T-shirts, stickers, trinkets, plus other good quality climbing & camping gear with comparable prices to REI, HTO, or any other "major" outdoor store. Which is surprising, because Coyote Corner, by all means, could jack their prices up to match close-by Yucca Valley tourist shops, but they don't, & you shouldn't pass up the chance to visit here! Plus, if you could be considered a "dirtbag climber" by yourself or others (me), then I saved the best for last: JTNP has no showers within park boundaries... but COYOTE CORNER HAS THEM!!! After a few days sweating & getting covered in campfire smoke, space dirt, prickly pear thorns, tape gunk, & chalk dust, their showers are seriously well worth the (again comparable) price! It was a loooong 7-1/2 minute shower, if you get what I'm saying... And even though the cute counter girl initially added up my total bill wrong by a dollar or two (she corrected it after I pointed it out to her, plus apologized way more than she needed to... & I gave her the difference as a tip!), it's a GREAT PLACE! BUY LOCAL!!! ENJOY (& respect) JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK!!! Have...
Read moreThis place is so cool and has some very cool items. I wish I could have bought more but glad I did not because the blonde lady working there did not seem like she wanted to be there and was so hesitant to answer my questions to the point I thought she was ignoring me. She just made the whole experience bad for me but the store is very nice. I understand places are understaffed, I am a frontline worker and worked ridiculous hours with skeleton crew but despite that was never rude to clients. I have tried reaching out to the owner couple of times to change review but...
Read moreThis gift shop is on the way to the Western entrance at Joshua Tree national park. My family and I stopped here to get a souvenir of our trip. The shop is small and with COVID only 10 people are allowed inside. The shop clerks were friendly and helpful when trying to ask for prices or items. The shop has a lot of cute stuff but it was quite expensive. They have magnets, plants, candy, jewelry, clothes, and knickknacks. I bought a hanging ornament with Joshua Tree and the year to remember when I finally came to...
