We first met owners Annie and Aron a few years ago when we took our then 9-year-old daughter for her first time bouldering in Joshua Tree. Our daughter got stuck on a traverse and was getting discouraged but Annie and Aron happened to be climbing there and they were both so nice and encouraging to our daughter. Annie even guided her and she was able to make it! When chatting with them afterwards, we found out they were climbing guides and had their own local company (Stone Adventures). We took down their info for our next visit to Joshua Tree. It’s been 3 years and our daughter is now 12 years old but we finally made it back to Joshua Tree. We had such a nice impression of Annie and Aron, we decided to book a half-day climbing session with Annie. She remembered us and my daughter was very excited to see her again. She was early to our meeting spot so we were able to get a nice head start to the crag and she brought us to a nice sunny wall that would keep us warm and also had fun routes for our daughter to climb. She was extremely encouraging and knew the routes really well and was able to gently and patiently guide our daughter when she seemed stuck. It was nice to have a guide who lives in the area and knows many of the climbing routes so that we could all enjoy ourselves stress-free. When my daughter was done climbing, she even took us on a quick walk to the Hall of Horrors as this feature isn’t very easy to find. We all had a really fun time and our daughter can't wait to go to Joshua Tree again to climb with Annie and Stone Adventures!

I had a great time rock climbing with Aron in Joshua Tree in July. I’m a fairly experienced gym climber with some experience rock climbing outdoors. This was my first time hiring a guide. I had a weekend in Palm Springs and I wanted to go to climbing in Joshua Tree, but didn’t bring any rope or the gear to set up anchors. I was also a bit nervous about climbing in Joshua Tree over the summer given the heat, but I decided to give Stone Adventures a call. Aron picked up the phone and talked with me for a bit. In the summers, he typically does a half day from 7am-11am. True enough, even though it was the middle of July, it was only about 80 degrees at 7am and in the 90’s around 11am. Nowhere near the 115 it was in Palm Springs that day. Aron picked a crag close to the parking lot and we spent pretty much the entire time climbing in the shade, so the heat really wasn’t too bad. Aron was a swell guy, really easy to talk to, gave solid beta when I was stuck, but never rushed me and let me do my thing when I wanted to figure out the route. I ended up climbing a whopping 14 routes between 5.8 and 5.10 in 4 hours, with a good variety of slab and vertical crack. 10/10 I would definitely book with Stone Adventures again if I’m ever in the area.

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to take the Stone Adventures anchor building course with Annie and it was truly an amazing experience. Annie is incredibly knowledgable, encouraging, kind, patient, and generally really fun to be around. Going into the course I had only been climbing for a couple of months and had a pretty limited knowledge of all the gear involved in building anchors but by the end I was surprised by how much I had learned in just six hours. Annie is great at allowing you to learn through experience while being right there to support you and check your work. Also, with your permission, Annie will make an awesome TikTok of your day so that you can have a great little video to remember the experience. Overall I came out of the course feeling much more knowledgeable about safe techniques for building anchors and had such a great time doing so. I would highly recommend booking an experience with Stone Adventures if you are looking to learn more about climbing and want a safe, experienced, and super fun teacher!

I had a single-party climb yesterday (12/31/19) with Tamas at JTNP. I made two outstanding choices regarding yesterday...first, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and do some climbing while at a NP known for it, and secondly, hiring a guide through Stone Adventures!

Tamas started by greeting me and discussing options based on the weather, available routes and crowd size. He gave me a few different options with pros/cons to both and allowed me to be part of that decision process. The right decision was made to move to drier and warmer ground. During the entire process, he made sure I was aware of my responsibilities and was comfortable in the climb. He chose a great first ascent that allowed me to gain confidence and become familiar with the process. Our second ascent was a multi-tier climb that was just the right amount above my comfort and experience level. I wanted to be challenged and it was the right amount. Tamas allowed me to take my time, look for my own route and only verbally assisted when he knew I wasn't coming up with a great answer. He gave me tips not only on routes and holds but basic climbing techniques that allowed me to climb a pitch I would've thought was impossible for me.

As the day ended, we moved to a short climb area and he had me work my way up two more ascents. By then, I was exhausted from the day and exhilarated from the climbing. Tamas took his time with me and with other climbers during our routes. He made sure that I was comfortable during tier changes and rappelling.

I had a great, fun-filled, challenging 4-hour adventure. If I could go back and change anything...I wouldn't!

Thanks again to Stone Adventures and especially to Tamas for making my JTNP trip even...

If longing for outdoor adventure fun at Joshua Tree...Stone Adventures are the guides for you!

Our Troop has used Stone Adventures (SA) for our Scout rock climbing outings over the years. I have friends who have used them for their climbing adventures as well, and they have nothing but positive feedback. Our Troop and a few parents were just out climbing with SA mid-October. Naturally, I wanted more so I decided to take a leap and take a one-on-one Gym to Stone Climbing Course. On a personal level, it was the best decision for me. I am a learner at heart…and these days, I long for outdoor adventures. Though it was a lot to take in within the 6-hours span, I did learn so much about gear, safety, learning to read the rocks, and I have a much more appreciation and understanding for the sport. Seth was my guide for the day, and he truly was fantastic! Seth was personable, patient, understanding and provided a lot of guidance and encouragement. He had more faith in me than I had in myself. Seth wanted to know what my goals were in the beginning and what I knew so he could tailor that to what we can do for the day. In the end, we talked about doing more climbing and some instructional course along the way should I decide to come back for more. I would definitely ask for Seth again as my guide. Tentatively planning for another rock climbing outing as I have a handful of friends that seem keen on giving it a try. I would highly recommend SA for your next outdoor adventure. Their guides love the sport, are very knowledgeable, trained, and they are there to help guide and encourage you...
