We stopped here today after having a terrible experience at the Kanab BLM Visitors Center hoping to salvage our feelings for Kanab, and thankfully this place is incredible! I read the reviews for the Kane County Information Center and I only found one bad review, and I have to think that individual has this center confused with the BLM Center.
We left the BLM Center upset after feeling totally unwelcome in the community, and then were cheerfully greeted by a wonderful woman who provided a wide range of materials on the area and really got us excited to be here. Do not confuse the two locations, and don’t even bother going to the BLM Visitors Center unless you want to go see the Wave. They run the lottery system to get permits. It’s honestly too bad Kane County doesn’t manage the BLM’s tourist relations, as the BLM folks really hurt the local economy by driving folks to other public lands venues by their...
Read moreFairly good at providing any information for whatever activity but options are more limited in wildfire season and coronavirus, lol. The one main thing that bugged me was that they have all these nice glossy brochures, but then the trails themselves are hard to find, not well maintained, or give you the sense that you're not welcome. And then there's their piece de resistance--picaboo canyon-- but you can't even get there without major 4 wheel drive! C'mon! If the sand is that problematic, get some gravel to put down on the road and make it accessible! That's something we really wanted to do but didn't trust our small Jeep to the road, and they warn you it's a 1000 towing fee. But you can go to the adventure place next door and get a tour or rent a Jeep for like $400+. Sounds a little sketch to advertise this famous canyon but make it impossible...
Read moreArrived into Kanab late on a Sunday evening. On Monday we wanted to check for local areas to hike. The BLM office was closed so we drove around and found the Kane County Visitor Center.
I regret that we misplaced the card of the gentlemen who helped up, because he was a huge help. We have 3 children ranging from 9-13. They “love” to hike (jk). We had a rough idea where we wanted to go. The gentlemen helped us narrow down options and made additional recommendations that were awesome. He provided us with maps and times of the day we should take the hikes. The recommendations made our trip memorable.
I found the card. Thank You Duane for...
