We rented a house on the 18th hole, so we figured we would play Kiahuna Golf Club since it looked pretty nice. Some of the previous reviews were brutal, so we didn’t know what to expect. Our foursome was dropped off at the clubhouse, and we went inside where Scott Muttersbach checked us in, and talked a little Packer football with us. Scott was very laid back, yet very informative about the course and amenities.
Being from Arizona, the cost of golf was comparable to where we came from, so we didn’t experience sticker shock for golfing in Kauai. Scott set us up with range balls, and got us out on the scenic range where we warmed up. Went over to Paco’s Tacos which is actually part of the course, grabbed a couple bottles of swing lube, and out to the course we went. Having never played the course before, the course was well marked, and you knew exactly where you had to go.
The course fairways were green and lush. The greens were firm and fast, but fair. All in all, the course was very good, the holes scenic, a few views of the ocean, and challenging at points. We had a great time playing 18 holes, grabbed some tacos at Paco’s, and then replayed 9 holes for cheap. We were not held up by slow groups, as the play moved on all holes.
If we ever have the chance to play Kiahuna Golf Club again in the future, we definitely would. Nice well maintained course, friendly people, good food, and...
Read moreHorrible customer service and the course isn't all that either! I played the day before with some local friends. They walked with pull carts. I got a half cart since I didn't know the course and felt it would be easier. We were playing 9 holes at 4PM. I was charged $15 for the golf and $25 for the cart. No big deal.
I come back two days later to meet my friends and play again. I ask for a pull-cart and they don't have any... lol I didn't want to ride and my friend walk with his pull cart. He said we'll just split a cart.
We go in and he pays first, the same $40 I paid a couple of days earlier. The cashier asks to see my license and then politely says it will be $65 because I'm out of state. I said no way. I just paid $40 two days ago. He said someone made a mistake. I said not interested.
My friend got a refund and we both left. The right thing would have been to honor what I had paid before and had a talk with the person who charged me the $40. Instead they lost two golfers and the place wasn't even busy.
If the course would have been worth $65 for 9-holes I would have paid it but it was far from it.
I can see horrible customer service is what this place is all about. You have...
Read moreDon't golf here. It may be the cheapest course on Kauai, but that's the only thing going for it. The gal in the pro shop treated us like cockroaches and clearly found it a bother to sign us in. Getting information from her was like pulling teeth. She acted like we were of inferior intelligence because we asked questions like, e.g., where's the driving range, and where do we get balls? Rude Rude Rude! The course is extremely confusing, and several other couples agreed with us. We teed off from the wrong box on the 8th hole and had to backtrack to get the 7th. The marshal came up to me and accused us, without subtlety, of dishonesty and told me, "You played the 8th hole twice." Not true! We are nice people, and honest as the day is long. For this guy to come up and question my integrity was beyond the pale. If you own and/ or manage this golf course, feel free to respond to this valid complaint about your employees. I will be more than happy to fill in the details. Major...
